It's not bad at all, and I don't get the hate for it on here. Good local places to eat, there's a loop, casinos, 15 minutes away from good fishing and hunting, and multiple nice golf courses for good prices. Lived in LC for the last 5 years.

Lake Charles is an awesome city. I am genuinely baffled as to why people hate on it. Per capita it has to be one of the most economically diverse cities in the country. It has a seaport, the center of the LNG industry in the US, offshore, chemical and petroleum products industries. It's incredible. It has nice casinos and golfing. It is a 20 minute drive from world class hunting and fishing. Some truly fantastic and unique dining opportunities. Honestly it has all the amenities you could ask for in a city five times its size. I love Lake Charles.

It was pretty shitty for a long time. I grew up there. It's diversified and improved a ton the past 10-15 years.

I can think of a lot worse places to be stuck for 4-6 weeks for work. LCH isn't that bad.

I like the Pujo Street Café as well as all the aforementioned establishments.

That place closed down, I think that restaurant was next to the current Rikenjacks.

I just remember going there during college for their nachos and margaritas. A less stuck up version of La Fonda.
The coolest place as a kid to go to was shakey's pizza. Sad day when it shut down.

Not exactly what I'd consider an attractive feature.
New Jersey has the same dynamic writ large, you don't find much (if any) love for the Garden State.
Who wants to be near poors?
Hell, poors don't want to be near poors.

For all of you guys suggesting Darrell's.....how long has it been since you've actually had one?
They're terrible now.

No it isn't. Listen to these morons on this board and they'll make it out to be the worst place in the country. Whatever you like to do, there's something for you. Plenty of restaurants. Casinos. Fishing everywhere. People bitch about the refinery when you pass through I-10 and that's all they experience and make a judgment off of that.
The traffic is fricking terrible now, but other than that, i don't have any problems with it. It's been my home all my life, and even I don't hate it. It's the fastest growing areas in the state, maybe even the south. Half these people don't know what the frick they're talking about.

I haven't been to the original in forever but the one in Jennings is pretty bad. I thought maybe it was because it was a new location but guess not
