I've heard Grand Lake is on the rise. Amazing considering how awful it was pre Rita. It was a complete dump.

Yea that's the only private I know of for High school. I hear of more people sending their kids to smaller schools on the outskirts of town.

3A school. About 600 students. Hamilton is much smaller. Last I heard, it was in financial trouble

Within the next few years, I'm fairly sure a new high school will be built in Carlyss (south Sulphur)

Sulphur is bursting at the seams

Lake Charles is one of the better cities on Louisiana. You don't have the type of leadership you see in BR at least.

I haven't been to the original in forever but the one in Jennings is pretty bad. I thought maybe it was because it was a new location but guess not

it's just lost a lot in quality

it was on the downward before the old man died and after he died it went off the rails

When did you play it? I've been a member at LCCC for the past 5 years. It's in unbelievable shape and there is never a wait. 3 to 3.5 hour rounds are common unless it's a big 4-ball tourney.

Played in the FCA tournament a couple of months ago. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad course at all...just don't think I'd rank it above some of the other courses in the area. For my money, I like Gray Plantation. Wish I had more time to take advantage of their twilight rate...also wish I was better off the tee so I could enjoy a round

They're terrible now

They are nowhere near what they were. They have went to shite since he died and I haven't been in years.

I know a lot of people that are big on Putters poboys, saying they rival the old Darrel's special. Haven't been out there, though, so can't confirm myself.

Used to go there for the driving range. Buy a bucket of beer and get a free bucket of balls, but I think someone stole their ball picker so last I heard their range is closed.

I'm not sure it's emerging. It's been around a long time. The gambaholics need the meth for their gambling binges.

It was either the picker or the tractor they used to pull it. I remember hearing it was the picker though. Been going to NewMoon instead, no beer but technically closer to where we live.
