No, it's not that bad. You'll hear a lot of it on this board though

Grew up down the road, lived in BR after graduating LSU and moved to LC in 2010. Definitely stay near the casinos....Wingate, Springhill Suites or Hampton Inn on Prien Lake Road. Plenty of good restaurants at the casinos. Local eats good too....Darrells, Luna, Tia Juanitas, Harlequin, Mazens, Tonys, Nina P's, Steamboat Bills. Golf at LC Country Club, Gray Plantation or Golden Nugget.

Lake Charles is not near as bad as this board makes it out to seem, just keep that in mind. It's a good place to raise a family

Well, for starters, it isn't Baton Rouge which is currently being ripped apart by the new mayor and other shitty community organizers. Stay by the casinos as others have said. The eats aren't all that bad and I'll remention a few, 121 Bistro, Mazens, The Chart House (golden nugget), Vic & Anthony's for a good steak., rikenjacks and Nina P's for a burger. Steamboat Bills and Seafood Palace for seafood. Luna's, Tia Juanita's, Chastains, Darrells is all good. Cousins for Greek/Lebanese food which is one of my favorites. 4-6 weeks here, go play some golf and take a guided big lake fishing trip. Take a beer tour at Crying Eagle Brewery and get drunk. Congratulate Nic Hunter for winning the mayors office over Wilford Carter. If you're a single guy, the night life kinda sucks but there is the Blue Martini at the Golden Nugget. Last time I went, it was full of dick bags but I guess that follows the small percentage of decent looking women around here. The traffic sucks due to the big influx of people here for plant work. Avoid Martin Luther King Boulevard, standard in most cities. It'll be over before ya know it
