OG lives matter.

No they were simply investigating, no liability

No, a complex set of circumstances - of which the BRPD was one - cost him millions.
What if the BRPD questioned someone else who was hit by a meteor while being questioned? Could his estate sue on the grounds that he'd have been somewhere else had the BRPD not questioned him?

BRPD didn't exactly try to clear him quickly. Seemed liked they took their time after they had a good idea he was not the likely suspect. I think they were scared of it blowing up in their face if they cleared him early but it cost him millions. They could have had a news conference day before the draft and said what evidence they did or did not have. BRPD definitely did not do Collins any favors.

He had not gone in and talked to them before the draft. That was the problem. They called and told them there was a murder, his name came up and they needed to talk to them. He refused and said he was going to the draft and refused to come in. So it made its way out to the public that his name came up in the murder investigation. Apparently from the child of the deceased.
He should have immediately grabbed a lawyer and gone in to talk before going to the draft.
At the same time his agent should have been on the phone with the NFL and teams and telling anyone who would listen this came up. La el is cooperating fully and on his way to the police station to see what was going on and how he could help the investigation and clear his name.
By stonewalling he screwed himself

Was the case ever solved?
As of that time no, but they just got her iPhone unlocked around January.

No. The way the media handled the situation cost Lael millions of dollars

Murder investigations need to happen and not wait on someone to go to a draft.
Is this real, people not putting murder investigations first?

If he had a case against anyone it would be the NFL, especially if there was evidence they colluded against him.

good lord, it's not the police department's job to have a press conference to help the employment chances of the people they talk to. He got a bad break, but it was all about unlucky timing. All this happened at the worst time - right before the draft. And that's what hurt him.
But it's not the cop's job to worry about his draft chances. They were investigating a murder. The other stuff is for him and his agent to worry about.

How do you figure this?

Since Lael was NOT Considered a SUSPECT, he was only a PERSON OF INTEREST,
I believe that's what they call suspects nowadays.

they was focused so much on Lael, that the real killer of that young lady is still at large
The police did not focus on L'ael. That's you making stuff up.

You act like the cops hands were tied but I guarantee if the same thing happened to an incumbent Louisiana politician the night before an election they would have made some type of statement. You are correct they did not legally have to do this. Like I said, they did not do him any favors...and they sometimes do favors for people.

Somebody Lael had relationships with got murdered. BRPD had every right to question Lael.
With what evidence exactly? I've had a number of ex girlfriends. I wouldn't want to be questioned or assumed a possible suspect if one of them went missing

I am shocked that Saints fans are accusing Jerry Jones of paying off the BRPD.

could Lael Collins come around and sue the BRPD for the millions of dollars he lost because of them?
Tort law doesn't extend to damages caused by police doing their jobs, as long as they weren't negligent.
Sucks for LC. But trust me, you don't want that type of liability for public safety departments.
Posted on 7/28/17 at 5:26 am to dukke v
BRPD did not cost him a dime. They had a job to do and they did it throughly.
Posted on 7/28/17 at 6:21 am to beantown
No he wouldn't have a case. The timing sucked no doubt ,but questioning someone about a crime would not warrant a lawsuit. Also he was not charged with a crime.
