I do the same. I have voted against every single tax increase for a long time. It doesn't matter what it is for. Our system is corrupt. Why would I continue to feed it with my own money?

not sure what the holdup is. (I mean, other than pissant politicians in WBR and Iberville fighting over where to put the bridge.)
Boo, I'm gonna help you out. The last time a loop or new bridge was discussed, pissant politicians in AP, LP, and EBR fought over where to put it as well. Trying to blame provincial voters and politicians is a red herring. I'll agree politics gets in the way, but your "cosmopolitan" office holders on the east side are equally to blame.

What money? So you are going to tell me the casino tax money is not being raided for politicians own projects?
I mean look at how great the public schools are in Baton Rouge. I'm positive All that tax money is being spent wisely!
How about CATS tax?
or
BREC tax?
Don't sit here and tell me all the funded money from taxes are going to the correct places because it has been proven they are not!

Yeah im not voting for more taxes because "some" of the money goes where it is supposed to. When the y can prove to me that all the money is being used for its intended purpose- like to resurface streets and state roads, and not for pay raises or LSP purposes- come talk to me.

Who the frick's talking about that?
I'm talking about gas tax money.

DOTD is the only state dept that hasn't had scheduled pay-raises. They haven't had one for years.
And when I brought up the fact that Jindal was giving money to LSP and that it was bad, this board applauded the move. Said the LSP deserved it.
And I brought up the idea of tolls on here years ago. Nobody liked that idea. Why should we pay twice-gas tax and toll?
This board is so willingly ignorant.

If you can't see the why I posted that you lose all your credibility and need to just stop posting.
If the state taxes for everything else never gets to where it is supposed to go what the frick would make you think all the gas taxes are getting to where they are supposed to go? Plus, you have no idea if all the gas tax is going where it is supposed to go.

Its not that I oppose increased taxation, I just have zero faith in local government to properly use the revenue
Considering you have high taxes already and the least amount of govt. services it is easy to see why you would feel this way. This means the money is/was there but has been siphoned off, without the projects happening.
This new bitch has done nothing for 6 months until last week, when she proposed, you guessed it, more taxes.
Another thing to consider is not paying for another study until they are ready to act. Studies become obsolete, effectively wasting more money.

If we really want this it can't be called lãmo "I-410", call it the Baton Rouge Alton Sterling Superhighway

frick you, you govt cuck. Sorry you haven't had a pay raise as a state employee, but I'm sure you've made up for it with generous amounts of time off. Of course you could always leave that horrible state gig and go into the private sector, but then you'd have to be productive.
Sorry your suggestions weren't accepted with raucous applause. Maybe the taxpayers feel like we're already paying enough in taxes that we shouldn't be double taxed via a toll.
The ignorance is from people like you and Slippy who believe the answer to every problem is more money (via taxes).
When DOTD, like every other agency, gets its shite together I'll give two fricks about your pay raises and funding . Till then, I'm tapped out from being taxed at a rate of 36-46% by every government leech at the fed, state, and local level

As an aside, I can't help but notice the lightly trafficked Audubon bridge in St. Francisville, how in the hell did that thing get built
Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana wanted it, and pushed for it for about 40 years. New Roads didn't piss and moan when St Francisville wanted the bridge farther south.
West Feliciana is probably the most vocal NIMBY's in the state... even they were able to agree on a bridge placement.

Exactly. Everyone bitches about the Audubon bridge but forgets that EBR (and the other 4 metro parishes) failed to act to get the bridge for themselves. I'm pretty sure PC/WF weren't even considered till the other group dropped the ball.

A short example of the mismanagement;
My 20 year old subdivision in BR is getting new streets. The asphalt does need an overlay and there are some sub grade failures and sidewalk failures that need repair.
-They have spent 3+ months tearing out EVERY sidewalk corner to make it handicap/blind capable (with the bumps in the transition). I have yet to see a blind person or person in a wheelchair trying to navigate the sidewalks. The existing rollover curb was fine for occasional handicap use.
-They have torn out perfectly good sections of curb/gutter for no reason.
-They are planning to mill out and replace all paving instead of just repairing the sub grade failures and doing an overlay.
This is just in one small 180 house subdivision. With inefficiency like this there is no amount of money that will fix the problem.
The corners are required to be handicap accessible by ADA the Federal Government, not your local municipality. Curb and gutter replacement that you might think is good have subsurface failure as does the complete roadbed. This is why your streets are being replaced and repaired - properly I might add.
If a simple overlay is done you would be posting here in two years complaining about the shitty job that the contractor did.
Be glad your tax money is actually being spent for your benefit.

Baton Rouge does get hosed on state and federal funds for infrastructure....but even the few times when they actually had the power and influence to get things they needed, they just tripped over their own dick.
A lot of things would improve if Airline actually flowed and had the capacity to handle the traffic demands placed on it. Same thing with I-10 between WBR and College Drive or LA30.
190 and 61 are viable alternatives to freeways, but they are largely ignored. They are just as functionally obsolete as some of the freeways around Baton Rouge.

It's pretty sad that Shreveport has better infrastructure than Baton Rouge. What does Shreveport have? 3 loops?

Is it fair to say that to the folks unwilling to do anything besides bitch about BR Traffic that they can do one of the following:
1) Vote for a toll road.
2) Vote for a iron clad gas tax specifically for roads and cannot be stolen from.
3) Vote for a non idiot representative.
4) STFU and keep on moving, or in this case not moving.

30 years ago the Feds threatened to pull interstate highway funds if Louisiana didn't raise the legal drinking age from 18 to 21.
The legal drinking age was raised, and our roads sit outdated. What the hell happened to that money?

EBR is the most populated parish in the state. The roads weren't ready for that amount of people plus all the ones using I 10 to travel from other places
I can tell you one of the biggest Clusters done with the I-10 bridge over the miss river is that sharp curve heading out of baton Rouge before going up the bridge. What genius Designed that I bet if they redesigned that where traffic wouldnt have to slow down to 20 mph to turn then traffic wouldnt back up as much.I think you could say definite bottleneck point there. I now hate going back to louisiana because i know i have to drive thru baton Rouge

Louisiana has a toll road. Well, actually it's considered an expressway over water but, whatever....the LA 1 overpass in Leeville to Port Fourchon.
