You have to wonder sometimes.

I mean, Bridgegate in New Jersey was a real thing.

But someone would leak this, right?

We have a statewide gas tax for roads right now.

We in EBR have a half cent sales tax now.

We just got hit with the largest state tax increase in state history and more local property taxes.

There is a limit to how much folks should pay.

Next governor who runs on redoing the state constitution should be unanimously voted in.

Been living in BR since 3rd grade. I would say we halfway kept up until Katrina. Improvements before then made a difference and things were getting better. Been downhill since then no matter how much money they throw at it.

I left Baton Rouge long before Katrina and I can assure you that you are mistaken

From the standpoint of Shreveport and Monroe, it's not shortsighted and provincial at all.

It took us 7 hours to get to Orange Beach from BR last Saturday. Many more people than normal are going to the beach. It affects traffic in BR. Trump effect

Good God you're the biggest broken record in the world. Your answer is always the same- more money. It ain't lack of revenue you retard. It's the politicians, bureaucrats, and agencies that spend the money.
Reform La govt. elect responsible politicians, and you'll have what you need.

FWIW, traffic was FUBAR on the west side today as well. I found it quite amusing watching all the Waze users getting stuck on 415 and LA 1

Right. Pay for your own damn road.

Tolls are the answer. In Texas, the fight against tolls centers on the state collecting tolls long after the road is paid for. However, there is no doubt the tolls pay for the project. You could build 2 loops, one north and one south, which is what is needed, with zero state outlay. Road construction companies in Texas specialize in this. It seems Louisiana is resisting cracking the seal on the state's first toll road, even though Texas and Florida have many.

As an aside, I can't help but notice the lightly trafficked Audubon bridge in St. Francisville, how in the hell did that thing get built?

EBR is the most populated parish in the state. The roads weren't ready for that amount of people plus all the ones using I 10 to travel from other places.

When elected officials actually take the tax money designed for a particular project and use it for that project instead of padding their own pockets and using it to get re elected!

Until then I will vote no for every tax increase or even tax renewal.

I would be for a toll road since the people who actually use it pay for it but sadly this probably will never happen either. I can already hear people screaming about the fact they are discriminated against because they don't have the money to use the new toll road. State Legislature will then cave to this and we will all be stuck with a huge tax burden anyway.

I agree they waste a lot of money at the state gov level and city parish level. Mayor Bitchey's transportation property tax will not go just to roads. It will also push some money to Cats which has already taxed the people to death and stupid trans from LSU to downtown.

They need to put gas tax on gas in EBRP to tax the all the drivers who use the roads.

The completion of the work on I-10 near Bluebonnet helped, it was much worse before. Some of the I 12 expansion has helped a lil as well. But as those were being completed the population kept increasing. you still have the issue on the west side which still keeps things backed up to the split anyway.

I used to make the trip to Covington/Mandeville in less than an hour pre Katrina. After that and the construction on 12 it would take two hours. Most of the time spent was just trying to get passed denham.

See my post above.

That money went to exactly where it was supposed to go.
