This doesn't make sense. The fire chief would know that that a fire wouldn't hide the evidence of the death by gunfire.
Panic makes people do stupid shite all the time.

I was about to post the same thing. Where does it say shotgun? If it was a shotgun and the wound is to the head, as stated in the article, then it would be significant if it is an intra cranial wound or not. If an external wound and not a contact wound then it would have been apparent from the get go that it was a homicide.

I read it. And sent the search. What shows up in search (the 1st post) is not what is in article.. Bizarre...

Thank you. The last thing I wanted to do was relay something that wasn't even mentioned! I knew I read it.

someone didn't want her body to be found.
Whether it was herself, or someone else, who knows.

Suicide and burning down the house has to be really damn rare

Especially when you figure in that her 3 pets were killed as well. Pet lovers do NOT ensure their pets have a horrifying death.
So glad the OT is here on the case. The authorities sometimes need to know that they can't just refuse to be bothered to do their jobs and then to just dismiss a case after an uninterested and unprofessional assessment of it.
They can try to dismiss a family as being to emotional or in denial when a family fights for justice. But having absolute strangers with no emotional ties to the case to keep pushing for answers can help so much. Sometimes this is what it takes.
So far i have found this article LINK to have the most info about the homicide ruling. The FACES lab is involved which is great. They do phenomenal, dedicated and highly respected work. It is exactly what was need.
Kudos to the family for pushing for justice.

There was never anything official about the type of gun used. The shotgun reference was in the request for the restraining order.

Soooo are we gonna assume the person we are all thinking did it, did it?

If he didn't do it, he's the unluckiest bastard on the planet. The Kangaroo Court of public opinion has already found him guilty.
Also, only the coroner has ruled it as a homicide. Preston had two autopsies conducted in his office. He also sent the remains to FACES. The family's pathologist also conducted an autopsy.
The STSO released a wishy washy statement saying they don't necessarily agree or disagree with the coroner's office conclusion.

You would think the fricking fire chief would be the first one to know that shooting her and trying to cover it up with a fire wasn't going to fool anyone.
Remember, we're talking about St. Tammany Parish folk here.

Wait, you were able to find evidence of a restraining order? if so, that is so good. I looked hard but could not find any written public evidence. I had mentioned the RO before when I revealed Stephen's brother "B" and his criminal record and what I had learned about her seeking a restraining order and issues with him.
Obviously the sheriff's office had to know about this too. So for them to just remain tight-lipped and allude to this being a suicide and basically dismissing it was pretty maddening.
But as it turns out Sheriff Randy Smith is a very good friend of Stephens and is obviously well aware of his brother "B" and his extensive rap sheet.

Well that might explain with the Sheriff's Office "doesn't necessarily agree of disagree" with the Coroner's Office.
I thought Randy Smith was supposed to be a reform candidate. Wasn't he going to correct all of the corruption of previous Sheriffs?

I agree. Normally people who want to commit suicide, they just do it. No reason to make it look like something it's not.
The only time I've ever seen it take that route is if there is an insurance money issue. And even then, it's usually a faked death.
