60 year old customer of mine had a tentacled glioblastioma on the side of his brain probably growing since he was five years old (the doc told him that after the surgery). Woke up in the morning and couldnt hear out of his left ear, called a Washington DC hospital where the best glioblastoma surgeon was supposed to be and they told him he just so happens to be on a rotation in Little Rock at UAMS Cancer Center, they schedule him in 18 hours later they had it out.
You just described an auditory schwannoma. A child with Glio has a 25% 5 year.

He will be dead in a year. GBM is terribly aggressive.

He had just got promoted to head of homicide and major crimes here and about 6 months later we were talking and I thought there was something wrong with me, because he was sharp as a tack. 16 months...and gone. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
It's a glioblastoma

....perhaps it's the way you imply. Then again perhaps when faced with his own mortality there was a differing in what was important. Who's to say. Only now, today, is not the time.
Good luck, best wishes, get right while you can, and stay strong, Senator McCain.

As a man that served his country both in the military and in government; I wish him nothing but the best and a speedy recovery.

Same. I wish him and his family all the best. It's never fun to see someone have to go through this.

Hopefully this will push McCain out of the senate and bring in fresh and new blood.
Prayers and condolences to his family though. Watched my uncle go through cancer and it was hell on earth for aunt and cousins.

So are we supposed to pretend that a malignant tumor growing in a person's brain *can't* affect their behavior or decision making?
My grandfather died of brain cancer - 6 weeks from diagnosis to his last breath. That tumor absolutely explained his bizarre behavior in his last few months of life, confirmed by his doctors who said it was pressing on the portions of his brain controlling inhibitions, emotional responses and decision making.

Remember when everyone was going like WTF at him during the Comey hearing when his mind was apparently not on this earth?

He drives me crazy but I hate to hear this about anyone. Very sad. I wish him well.
I had a bad feeling about his health when he had that bizarre episode when questioning Comey a little while back.
Incidentally, didn't Jimmy Carter receive treatment for brain cancer a few years ago?

Here's to a fast and compete recovery. Hastened no doubt by a long -overdue retirement and quality time with family and friends. Obviously, it's not a lifetime seat, and the people of AZ deserve full-time representation.

A Glioblastoma was removed. Those are very aggressive. Hopefully he can overcome the odds.
