I gotta confess. I watch and even kinda enjoy the Emergency Awesome guy's GoT recaps. I agree he's not as on the ball as some of the others but the guy just seems to try so hard and comes across as sincere. I do agree it's kind of strange that he gets so many more views than some others who are better. But I guess he's just good at marketing or something.

My go to GoT recap is Smoke Screen which is always good. I also check out Rawrist and Ozzy Man regularly and find them well done.

I think Emergency Awesome's channel was of some value to non-readers before the show blew by the books. I no longer watch his videos (honestly, I only watched a few), but he used to provide some background information that could clear things up for show only people.

I think most of us here understand the show and source material enough that we're just watching these videos for fun more than anything. We are going to evaluate these channels differently than most, which is why I almost lost my mind when I saw OMLandshark say he liked Emergency Awesome (obviously, he was joking).

It's also why I generally watch Preston Jacob's videos. His theory videos lose me every time (especially when you get past the early parts), and his recap videos are borderline insulting, but I still find some interesting points and (sometimes) valid criticisms. I just wouldn't remotely recommend his channel to anyone who hasn't read through the books already (even someone like wildtiger93 who knows enough about the source material to post in this thread). His videos are going to be extremely misleading to someone who doesn't know exactly where the analysis stops and the bullshite begins.

Any predictions?

quote:

Episode 2: “Stormborn” Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) receives an unexpected visitor. Jon (Kit Harington) faces a revolt. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) plans the conquest of Westeros.

Episode 3: “The Queen’s Justice” Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) holds court. Cersei (Lena Headey) returns a gift. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) learns from his mistakes.

Something tells me the "unexpected visitor" will not be Jon Snow, and that "returning a gift" will be someone (or something's) severed head being delivered to Dany

I'm guessing the revolt is from LF and the visitor I'm guessing is Melisandre.

Got to be Oberyns paramour right? We can all dream right?

She clearly has no real value in the end game but they've shown her enough that they have to kill her off

Why are we talking about Tyger Ryno in here?

No comment. I think that's revealed in the pre-season pictures that were released, but I could be wrong. HBO releasing "fake spoilers" this season makes it a foggy prediction.

Jon (Kit Harington) faces a revolt
Possibly because Bran returns to Winterfell and reveals Jon's true parents.
quote:

Cersei (Lena Headey) returns a gift
Whatever "gift" Euron gives her will not go over well, I guess. But yeah, it seems like it will be pretty harsh.
quote:

Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) learns from his mistakes.
This is too innocent sounding not to be dire, possibly the result of Cersei growing more angry with him for releasing Tyrion, allowing him to come back with Dany.

I hope Jaime makes it through the next episode.

Going off track here as it doesn't pertain to Opening episode last Sunday or foreshadowing of next episode.

Does Varys have any part left to play from here on out? Last we saw he was going to gather supporters for Dany. She's got the needed ships and we already saw that Dorne and Highgarden were present in her fleet. Who else is out there that matters is on the fence that would need Varys to influence them?

at minimum danaerys is going to want an explanation for varys' attempted assination plot. also varys is keenly aware of court politics in KL and should be able to advise her well

or...he's planning to double cross her

we will see

A little late in the game to introduce any Blackfyres.

Varys is still Dany's "master of whispers" and is her #1 source of information as to what's happening all over the realm. I'm not sure how much Qyburn has affected this, as he seems to have taken away many of Varys' little birds, but Tyrion doesn't have an information network at all, so she still needs him.

Nah, I think it's got something to do with Littlefinger. If you watch the SPOILERS teaser for the second episode, Jon shoves Littlefinger against a wall and looks like he's threatening him.

We don't know for certain that it is him in the preview.(it probably is), but him leaving doesn't really qualify as a "revolt." It's just abandonment.

Cersei "returning a gift" is the most interesting to me. That just sounds like it will be brutal, whatever it is. I really hope it has to do with killing the sand dykes. I can google Tyene's tits anytime I like. Their characters are horrible.

Littlefinger's "trump card" is the Knights of the Vale and in the preview they show the leader of the Knights as being the one who says, "Targaryens cannot be trusted". So Littlefinger has some control over Jon as he may be able to sway the Vale (through Robyn) to go along with allying with Daenerys or to refuse and threaten to greatly weaken the Army of the North.

The one thing I'm sure of though Cersei isn't going to go down without really screwing over Dany in some way. That's why I think when Dany enters kings landing Cersei is just going to blow up the whole place with wildfire and kill off anyone who's inside. After that Jamie kills Cersei and himself.

Something else to consider is that Varys knows about the wildfire (his little birds may have told him). And Varys met with the Queen of Thorns and the sandy bitches. They may have a surprise for Cersei. They might set off the wildfire killing all the lannisters...

In my view, one of the themes of the show is the transition in some houses of power from older generations to younger generations. It's happened with the Starks, the Lannisters (of course the youngest generation of them was wiped out but they were considered to be Baratheons), the Tullys (if Edmure is still alive), the real Baratheons (assuming Gendry shows back up), etc. This week we saw it with the Umbers and Karstarks.

In the vein, I think Ellaria may get it and maybe some of the sand snakes. But they may just leave one - perhaps the youngest one. Pitty they didn't leave Trystane's fate a little more ambiguous and we could find out he survived but I think they were pretty explicit.
