I got 2 degrees from LSU, but I just live on a better coast now.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but why does Jorah hate Sam so much? He tried his damnedest to give Sam greyscale. Did Sam mix up the bowls/pots when serving him his food?
That bothered me as well.

Jorah may not have any real reason to know Sam, let alone dislike him. He's probably going stir-crazy in that cell and is desperate for information.
However, Sam is freaking stupid. Travels all the way to friggin' Oldtown to discover something Stannis told him in an X-marks-the-spot map. If the end of his narrative is to help Jorah and tell Jon what he needs to know, I would be okay with Randyll finding him and killing him.

I hope there's more to it than just the dragonglass.

easily the worst character and ultimately superfluous...the existence of obsidian at dragonstone would have been evident to anyone who has ever been there (davos???). its not some big secret requiring a visit to the library of ancients to discover

I know.
I love everything about the maester order GRRM has shown us. I hate that Oldtown/Citadel is being wasted on this non-issue.

Sam will cure Jorah and send him back to the North (maybe with Valerian steel).

Gonna bring back Katy Perry to Cersei so she can sing "Roar" to her. Surely that will make her swoon.
Will she be showing us her boobs?

There's all kinds of cool stuff that Sam can figure out in the books: the nature of the Others and what they want, how to defeat them, the Horn of Winter, the glass candles lighting, dragons, etc, etc, etc. Not sure why they limited his Citadel experience thus far to really just dragonglass.

That's not fair, they spent way more time on him cleaning shite pots than they did on him discovering the dragonglass location he already knew.

Yep I mentioned that earlier in this thread. The citadel is supposed to be full of smart peeps and they have the same guy emptying shite pots and serving food.

Something just hit me. The White Wolf and Sansa had their argument about who is going to be granted or retain Karhold and Last Hearth, that was settled and I agree with Jon on it... but who the frick gets The Dreadfort now??? No way in hell you let anyone with any ties to the Boltons retain a castle like that. I vote that Lord Tormund of House Giantsbane should rule The Dreadfort.

I'm surprised that when Jon told the Northern Lords that dragonglass was more precious than gold, Davos didn't mention the fact that Dragonstone was build on the crap. If Sam's message to Jon is what prompts Jon to want to go to Dragonstone, then that is ridiculous considering Davos is basically his hand.

I know this is extremely sloppy writing by dumb and dumber, but I think we are supposed to assume he washes his hands in between tasks.

There clearly will be. They focused on that dagger for a reason. Plus, Sam even mentioned his conversation with Stannis in the episode. There is more to him being there.

His more important goal should and I think will be how to make Valyrian steel

Davos' expertise was smuggling things into places, not getting them out of places.

I'm sure they put up a sign like the restrooms in fast food restaurants. No one would ever not obey the sign.

I think the shite montage was simply a clever way to show that time had passed and Sam had been at the Citadel for a while (with no luck) before finally taking the initiative to find out stuff on his own without the maester's permission.
Most people have been complaining about the jumps forward in time that are happening, so I'm sure D&D tried to alleviate some of that with the funny little montage. I didn't have a problem with it.
People will definitely have to get used to jumps in time tho. Everyone joked/complained about Littlefinger and Varys' apparition skills last year, but there's going to be plenty more of that to come. There has to be if this whole thing is going to come to any sort of conclusion with 12 remaining episodes.
