So a couple of things to note. First and foremost, we are not the leading beacon of freedom in the world that we absolutely should be. We can unequivocally be doing better at protecting the sovereignty of the individual over the state and crony capitalism is certainly a major factor inhibiting that improvement.



BUT, let's not loose grasp of our perspective.

Relative to the rest of the world, we are doing significantly better than a significant number of countries. And while this measure definitely isn't absolute, it shows clearly that we are doing far better than far more countries out there than just Russia and China.
