About as much difference as there is between Minneapolis, MN and Carbondale, IL or between Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Cincinnati, OH.

Mostly the accents.

And midwesterners tend to be more racist than Southerners. Not as racist as northeasteners, but not far from it.

Cockiness. Rust belt Midwesterner's are genuinely nice and laid back. Patient. They have a split second pause in their mannerisms. That sounds weird but, It's the best way to describe how they reply in conversation. It lags a bit longer in the Dakotas.

Southerners pretend to be nice and then you hear from somebody else everything they hate about you.

Midwesterners don't pretend to like you if they don't, they just ignore you.

Much like Europe.

Major difference to me is Midwest food seems very bland. When I first met my wife (from Indiana) she couldn't cook for shite. Whole family is the same way. A good night would be broiled steak and hominy.

I've been to 42 states and can honestly say that the people in the Midwest, outside of the major cities, are absolutely the most like Southerners. It's not quite the same but they are very similar cultures

I'm from Louisiana, wife is a Michigan native. I've spent time there. The only differences I've noticed are temperature and accents.

ETA: food.

The women drink more beer.

Rural Midwesterners have many of the same values as Rural Southerns, but that could be said for almost everywhere

Oh yeah, and music heritage and food are better in the South
