Has there ever been a fall from grace quite like that of Ronda Rousey?

The woman was on top of the world until that Holly Holm fight. There were even some who thought she could beat Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match. Now after that Amanda Nunes fight, she has seemingly retired from fighting for good. I can't remember a seemingly immortal fighter knocked down to the ranks of the mortal so quickly.
She got hit so hard against Holmes she even contemplated suicide after it was all said and done. I don't think there is a story quite like hers in the annals of the sport.

Ronda is the exact reason why Conor takes the fight with any rules that Floyd wanted to make it happen. Make the money while you can - you never know when your window is closing.

I'm still trying to figure out which was more demeaning -- getting the f*ck knocked out her by Holly Holm or having to f*ck Turtle in the Entourage movie.

She had a movie career ahead of her too. She would play the gimmicky roles but a movie career is a movie career. On top of that, she could've special appearances on TV shows, endorsements, maybe making speeches.
She's still made a lot of money but will be remembered as a fraud. Kind of feel bad for her cause everyday it crosses her mind.

Rousey was trying to follow in Gina Carrano's foot steps but was never able to.
A lot like Cena attempting to follow the Rock to Hollywood.

Fight game is tough. If you aint getting better you are getting worse. Thats what happened to rousey. She shelled up with bad coaching and never tried to get better. Other girls caught up. She went out like a loser also not talking to media, etc.
As far as your question goes, anderson silva has only won 1 fight since he lost his title to weidman and also got popped for roids. Even his 1 win was a controversial decision.
Anthony pettis is another.

Let's give it some time. You never know how this could end. It reminds me of George Foreman. After the Fraiser fight he seemed unstoppable. Ali got in his head and he was not the same in the ring until he stepped away for years (I recall him flailing around like an amateur after that Ali fight, though my recollection may be faulty). He did beat Ron Lyles but was knocked down twice and then lost a decision to Jimmy Young and looked bad doing it.
When he resurrected his career, all that seemms to have been forgotten, so the story for Rousy may take a good turn if she gets he head together. Hard to say. Sometimes we live in the facade we build for ourselves and struggle to cope when it comes crashing down.
Oh, and Mike Tyson says hello.

That cocky bitch deserves it. She thought way too much of herself and had a false sense of her abilities.
Does anybody remember on The Ultimate Fighter how awful she was? I was a fan of hers until I saw her on that show. Does anybody remember when she got in Dennis Hallman's face wanting to fight him?
Dennis Hallman had like 60 fights and fought for the UFC championship. He would have killed her.
But it didn't stop the raging bitch from acting like a psycho because she knew he wouldn't hit a female.

That's the fight game.
One are top dog and unstoppable, and then you are stoppable.
But frick Ronda Rousey. She was annoying as shite.

Tyson
Once Douglas showed he could be beaten, his aura of invincibility was gone. He no longer won fights before he stepped in the ring.
He never won again.

RR was all hype. She kept destroying no name chicks in 13 seconds with an arm bar, she didn't get a whole lot of experience early on bc her opponents were completely overwhelmed. At the time, everyone tried to pretend she was the GOAT instead of the obvious conclusion now that she padded her record with a bunch of no name tomato cans and the second she fought legitimate fighters, she was brutally exposed as the fraud she always was. All hype by UFC bc they had no other stars and she was a new exciting wave. Best pound for pound fighter on the planet

Joe Paterno is the ultimate fall from grace.
He went from being viewed an icon who "did things the right way" to a scum bag who decided protecting the image of his precious football team was more important than protecting defenseless kids.

Did people ever really say this? I thought it was "she could beat Floyd in a street fight/the Octagon" where she could tackle him?

I mean, they weren't elite at the highest level of football, but Johnny and VY both had pretty big falls from grace.

Ronda Rousey isn't even close to the biggest fall from grace.

Literally nobody thought she could beat Mayweather in a boxing match dude.
Some felt she could get him onto the ground in a fight though.
