That's terrible . Children shouldn't be executed period.
The USSC has ruled that the death penalty is "cruel and unusual punishment" if the perpetrator is under 18. Same thing for sentences of life w/ no parole/pardon.
It was pretty easy to get railroaded in court during the Jim Crow era.

My mom grew up on a cotton farm about 10 miles from where this happened. He was wrongly convicted and said conviction was vacated in 2014.
11 downvotes...looks like some of those jurors have descendants here.

What are we supposed to do about it now? If Obama was a time traveler and had a son?
I'm sorry it happened...3/4 of a century ago; it was a grievous wrong.
Still doesn't negate the fact that the entirety of human existence is replete with all kinds of horse shite or that until we learn to move beyond the past the future will be forever beyond our grasp...

Maybe racist people sentenced an innocent person to death.

Some family of the people are still alive, so the vacated ruling did mean something.

Very sad case. I'm glad we've moved on, somewhat, from times like this

We can 100% say that the trial was a perversion of justice and a sham. Everything else you said misses the entire point.

Does the hate and distrust of the law enforcement community form the black community make a little more sense now?

"George was reported to have gotten into fights at school, including a fight where he scratched a girl with a knife. This assertion by Stinney's seventh-grade teacher, who was black, was disputed by Aime Stinney Ruffner when it was reported in 1995. A local white woman who remembered Stinney from childhood said Stinney had threatened to kill her and her friend the day before the murder, and that he was known as a bully."

Damn.. All kinds of fricked up shite happened throughout history.
Posted on 6/16/17 at 4:31 pm to Darth_Vader
Was he executed on the famous courthouse lawn?

Maybe a 14 year commited murder, which is 100% plausible, and he was correctly convicted and sentenced to death.
Without any hard facts nobody will ever know. To say one of the above is definitely correct is just plain ignorance.
That isn't how justice works. there was no evidence he committed those murders. None. He should have never even been brought to trial.

What does that even mean?
