This is a pretty ridiculous story. She's is 4 years of college ball away and the moment a kick is blocked and she gets steamrolled trying to make a tackle her stock will drop. Plus were not even sure how good she is.

Media struggling for stories in the summer.

I pictured her doing the LSU fake fg, catching the over the head toss and getting destroyed

47 yards off a tee. That is terrible.

But the school is getting free press out of it, so good for them I guess. I wouldn't want this for my daughter.

ETA: Let me clarify, 47 off a tee isn't terrible for a girl. But this isn't about how she performs in relation to other girls.

She would be dead or crippled the first time someone got past the O line and hit her at full speed

This whole thing is a charade. She only made 1 field goal in high school.

She was 1/1 in field goals and 30/33 on extra points.

She basically only kicked extra points. And that field goal she made was only 25 yards.

And she sucks at basketball. She averaged only 2.9 pts per game on 20% fg% on the female team that had a record of 12-15 and were 0-9 in their division.

One of my pet peeves is when news outlets pump up females as a conquerer of men's sports when their ability is undeserving of it. I have no problem with stating how good she is in relation to other females and that it's an accomplishment to play on the men's team.

But it is incredibly annoying when they lie to people and act like they are a dominant player in the men's sport when they clearly are not.

Good for her. She is getting a free education. She is somewhat attractive, will be educated, and will have an OK like. Did the article mention her sammich skills?

I'm 100% on board with women who can do what men can do, doing what men do.

I'm also 100% on board with women who think they can do what men can do, trying to do what men do and finding out the hard way that they can't.

I say that because thousands of incredible athletes every year wash out and fail to make the NFL. We're talking about top 1% college guys who find out they don't have what it takes. Then you get articles with headlines like "The first woman to land a college football scholarship has her sights set on NFL" and it's kind of insulting to all those dudes because she hasn't actually accomplished anything of note, other than being born with a vagine.

this chick is being touted as potentially the first female NFL player... because she has kicked a 47 yard field goal in practice once off a tee and accepted a scholarship to a D2 school

According to the article that isn't why she's being touted. Apparently her kicking coach is pushing her potential (no shite) and a D2 program decided to give her a chance.

But becoming an NFL kicker is incredibly tough, the chances of the average starting kicker in a power conference aren't good, let alone an incoming freshman at a D2 school. Sure, give her a chance to prove everyone wrong but the odds aren't good.

Great college kickers like Colt David and Josh Jasper didn't sniff an NFL starting job. I highly doubt a female kicker would get a spot on anything more than a publicity stunt. Maybe as a camp leg and that's it.

If she is automatic from inside 40-45yds, Bama probably should offer. God knows they need a consistent kickers even if it sacrifices range
