On a scale of 1-10 how bad did Trump frick up by not canning Comey week 1?

You can also add in the fact he spouted off about not going after Hilldawg. I believe these two things might have shown weakness which in turn emboldened the MSM/Dims to bring the BS in desperate hope of bringing Trump's administration down.
I think Trump's miscalculation is a strong 8 out of 10, yeah there would have been exploding heads if he fired Comey day one or shortly thereafter but he could have saved all this BS he's dealing with now.
Trump should have pursued every legal avenue to expose the Clinton Crime Foundation and bring charges if possible. Those two actions would have put the swamp on immediate notice that he was not just BS'ing during the campaign.

I think a lot of us were saying that on election night after we knew he was elected. These swamp dwellers are tough to kill, possibly zombies.

I don't know, he's kind of clearing himself of certain things while also exposing the left and MSM on certain things too through this
The Flynn comment wasn't good but it won't kill him, and I mean would there even be less hysteria or cries for impeachment if he hadn't made it? It would just be something else, like "sources" saying that our allies were cutting Intel ties because trump told Russians about a bomb threat that CNN had already written an article on.

Easily his biggest mistake was not starting with infrastructure - he could have created a nice enough honeymoon.
That was such a god damn no brainer

Pretty deep misstep. Seems like he tried his best to take s step back and not be completely partisan and it came back and bit him.
I know people around here like to cup his balls while they blow the man, but he has had his fair amount of blunders in a short time. Hopefully the Dems run out of gas soon. They are looking completely exposed at the moment with their fake narratives.
Let's pray the worst of the missteps are behind him. If so it could be a nice next few to several years.
But Trump needs to get it together.
I think he's moving forward. Even with his tweets. Starting them with 'in my opinion' or 'its possible' and not using definitive statements painting himself in the corner is also a welcomed sight.
In the middle of all this naming his next FBI nominee, he isn't slowing down, just needs to have the house cleared and keep it clean

He should have fired him after lunch at the Capital was over on election day.

It was a no win situation.

This. I don't know that Comey is not playing a role for Trump. He's almost inviting an investigation of himself which would really open Pandora's box. Trump gives him immunity and then it gets good.

I was not big on Trump winning the nomination until I saw how beta the other candidates were compared to Trump, and then I thought this man may actually be able to whip Hilldawg.
At the same time I was having a hard time imagining Trump conversing with dignitaries and world leaders because he's not a well spoken individual but he was somehow connecting with me when he spoke, and I said this man may be just what the US needs at this point in history.
But you're right, he needs to allow some trusted members of his administration to monitor his tweeting BS and let him know when it aint cool to hit send.

I don't know. I want to believe that Trump knew he had to bring someone in to evaluate the situation and wait to get their advice. I still think the blow back would have been the same.

But he was just BS'ing during the campaign, and he actually thought Comey was loyal to him after he torpedoed Hillary.
Trump is just an idiot. If it weren't this it'd be something else.

He should have fired every holdover in every department and made them all reapply.

Probably an 8. I was thoroughly expecting that to be his first act as President. Frankly I was shocked Barry himself didn't can him in November.

Trump's main mistake is that he is not ideological. Trump does not recognize the "Conservative/Liberal Ideological Clash". When Trump sizes people up, he thinks in terms of "Is he a good guy or a bad guy?"
Trump is politically naive to a very great degree. He has never realized that he is on the battlefield and under attack. He doesn't see the battlefield and so he has no idea on how to shape the battlefield and win the battle.
He has lots of great ideas on reform but I doubt that any major part of his agenda will be passed. I believe that the GOP is now ready for Trump to resign and let Pence be POTUS. The GOP never liked Trump and now, because Trump has proven to be so impotent at Ideological Warfare, the GOP neither respects nor fears Trump. I know I wouldn't if I were his political enemy.
Trump is like a heavyweight fighter who knows nothing about his opponent and who constantly lurches forward into uppercut after uppercut after uppercut. Trump decides to let HRC off the hook and in return he's getting uppercut after uppercut from her. Trump decides to let the Flaky Comey stay on board, and Trump knew or should have know that Comey is a flake, gets fed up with Flaky, fires Flaky and Flaky gets the chance to stick some knives in Trump's back. These self inflicted Trump wounds are two examples of how naive and incompetent he is at fighting political/ideological wars.
Trump's only supporters were the voters who elected him. This was true last November and it's true now. We have to hope that Trump will gain some insight into how to shape this battlefield and win this ideological war. I have my doubts that he has the mettle and brains to do it.
And I truly doubt that the GOP wants to help Trump get re elected. If a Reforming Outsider can demonstrate that REAL reform is possible in Wash DC, the Establishment Globalist UniParty is finished and that's something that the Swamp won't allow to happen without an ideological fight to the death.
It's a very pessimistic view to take, but, I am leaning towards the opinion that it doesn't matter who We the People vote for because no Reforming Outsider is ever going to be allowed to politically survive long enough to get the USA off of this Globalist/Internationalist/ Socialist/Multiculturalist and Authoritarian path.

I have also had many of the same thoughts, If Trump does not get a trusted inner circle established and purge the holdovers he's going to have a difficult time surviving 1 term.

He's like a heavyweight alright. Like Ali himself. He's rope-a-doping them. Letting them punch themselves out before the knockout punch.
