And nobody seems to care. Seems like these types of milestones used to get wall to wall coverage. Is it the steroid era ruining great accomplishments or what?

He still in the league?
Posted on 5/29/17 at 10:46 pm to SlowEasyConfident
Cards fans will be in here shortly to bash him.

Hard to believe that around 2008 or so people were proclaiming him to be the best baseball player ever, then he kinda just went away. Weird.

Dude is probably way older than his listed age

Yeah he's probably like 46

Nope.
Stand up guy, and I (and probably most) wish him nothing but luck.
He took a deal that most, if they were honest, would have done the same.

That's what happens when you're on a perpetually mediocre team
Also not being the best player on that mediocre team prob doesn't help

He's a great player and got his money. Circumstances generally don't allow many great players to stay on the same team unless they are willing to take less money.

Still one of the greatest to ever play thee game. His 11 years with St Louis is just crazy. 81.3 WAR, 30 HR every season, only hit under .300 once(.299), and played at least 140 games each year.
All Time:
25th in WAR(should pass Ripken for 24th)
9th in HR(could pass Mays for 5th)
16th in ISO
11th in SLG
28th in wRC+
Probably the 3rd best 1B of all time behind Gehrig and Foxx.

The destruction of the record book by the cheaters killed my love for MLB. The whole chase for milestones and records was part of the romance for me. No we have assholes like Luis Gonzales ahead of legends.

Not bashing him. He's still a good player. But clearly not the perennial MVP candidate he used to be. I still have a lot of fond memories. I looked at the rest of the Angels lineup one day, and was surprised all the .230 hitters in front and behind him. But I'm sure he'll enjoy all that dough while finishing in 3rd place in the AL West every year.

I was with you until this. All the a-holes in the game and you pick Luis Gonzales?

.249/.297/.381

And only 406 of those have been against the Astros.

That's what happens when you play for a team that hasn't won a playoff series since 2009, despite having the (now injured) best player in baseball.
Also, if Pujols' 600th isn't a cannon blast into the Houston night sky next weekend, I will be personally offended.
