I see this happen a lot. They want to keep the same last name as their children. I assume they get change their last name if they remarry though?

Yall know of anyone who has done this? If so, does the ex-husband mind? What about the new woman does she mind?

Yes, her reasoning is she doesn't have the time to change her last name on every legal aspect

I have a coworker who kept her husband's last name just so their daughter wouldn't have a different last name from her.

They were only married 6 months and her husband cheated on her with half of Texas, so I found it puzzling she would want to even keep his last name.

my ex wife kept my last name even after she re-married.

claims it's too much work to change all her documentation and banking info.

But i think it's because deep down she still wants me.

Trashy. You got a divorce for a reason, why keep his last name?

I know one that was married and divorced twice. After the second divorce, she changed it back to her first married name. It struck me as strange.

I changed mine back (no kids), but I understand keeping it. It's a serious pain in the arse to change it on everything.

I don't see why this is so difficult for some of you to understand.

If a person were to build up a career or maybe something with name recognition like in politics or become well known in their community, I could see why they wouldn't want to change their name back

My ex did and it bugs me because she really only has a right to that last name because she married me. Now that the marriage is over I sort of wish she would go back to her maiden name...

I knew someone who was a Tv news reporter who had to get authorization from her employer to change her name when she remarried. It was in her contract.

My exwife still has my last name. Why go thru the hassle of changing it? I assume it's a psychological connection to the kid to still have the same last name.

Not to mention it would be a fn hassle to change names on everything.

My sister changed hers back to her maiden name because her ex was an abusive a-hole. My niece was already 18 so it was left up to her what she wanted and she kept her dad's name.

The alimony checks stop coming in
The kids are over 18

Yes, but here is why. I am dating a woman that has a kid now that is divorced and I asked her.

Apparently, it is a gigantic pain in the arse to change your name. You have to deal with banks, SS, DMV, etc so they don't bother until they have to.

I know lots of people who have including my own mother. I've never heard of the ex giving a damn, but not sure about the new spouse if remarried.
