I would say that The Road or No Country For Old Men would be better starting points for McCarthy. They are easier reads, but still give you an idea if McCarthy is your cup of tea. Blood Meridian is still a fantastic book though.

Finishing up All About Love: New Visions by bell hooks. Really enjoyed it so far and found her perspectives on love (and the many facets of it) very interesting.

Decided to hit up Reddits r/bookclub for some ideas and will be doing The Awakening by Kate Chopin and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer for February.

I recently watched Iris with Judy Dench and Kate Winslet so it inspired me to finally pick up Under the Net which I've had lying around for a while.

So far it is much funnier and enjoyable than I had imagined given her philosophical bent. Waugh-esque almost.

Love Pressfield. Great books.
Reading Bibi, Netanyahu’s autobiography.
Just finished Play All Night, a great book about the Allman Bros. Band.
Next is the latest Daniel Silva book, although I’ve cooled on him a lot.

Really enjoying this bio, more than I thought I would.

I’ve been alternating fiction with nonfiction, and my nonfiction is usually history. In the past few months I read the Stormlight series, Warbreaker, lord of the rings, Civilazation of the Middle Ages (Norman Cantor), The Normans (Lars Brownworth), the epic of Gilgamesh (only took a few hours on audiobook).

The next series I’ll jump into is Mistborn but I’ll read a few shorter nonfiction books first. Ian Mortimer has books on Edward IV and Edward V that I’ll do next.

Ian Mortimer writes great books. Try "The Greatest Traitor: Roger Mortimer, Ruler of England 1327 -1330". I also just finished book one of Mistborn, starting Well of Ascension tonight. We're on a similar trajectory it seems.

He’s got some “time travelers guide” books that are on my reading list. Have you read any of those?

I read his Guide to Medieval England which was pretty good but not as good as the Roger Mortimer biography. I also read The Outcasts of Time which was just ok.

His first couple of novels were great, after that I felt like they kind of tailed off.
Hope you enjoy it.

Just finished Remember the Ramrods by David Bellavia. Jocks had him on a podcast recently and the book sounded interesting. I really enjoyed it and have House to House on the reading list.

About to finish Outdoor Kids in an Inside World by Steven Renella.
