Does anyone read Robert Crais ? Has to be my favorite author. Originally from Baton Rouge. First book of his I read was “Voodoo River”, set in Ville Platte and Baton Rouge.

You're going to love that. Just finished it last week. Going to start his latest trilogy next.
Reading this while I wait on shipping because it was my wife's favorite book growing up. Figured I'd give it a go.

A Column of Fire by Ken Follett. Absolutely loving this series.

Had never heard of Towles before a friend recommended TLH to me last year and I absolutely loved it.

I'm with you on that - I've only read a couple of chapters but I'm absolutely loving it as well. It feels similar to The Grapes of Wrath, which is one of my favorite books.
What are your thoughts on The Three Body Problem so far? I found it to be an engaging read with its imaginative sci-fi concepts and plot, though I did feel that the character development and dialogue could have been stronger.

I'm a little over halfway and really liking it. Some of the technical parts are over my head but I don't really concern myself with it since it's not totally crucial to teh book's enjoyment.
And I don't mind the dialogue at all. I'm guessing it maybe translates that way going from Chinese to english but I like that it's mostly pretty simple and straightforward without much fluff.

I've been on a bit of a Ken Follett binge lately (though I have not read "A Column of Fire" yet). I've been having a lot of time to read due to being laid up fighting a disease and I've gone through "Pillars of the Earth" and now I'm on his Century Trilogy (on book 3 - Edge of Eternity" as we speak.
For me he's very readable, despite each book being 900+ pages. I don't think he's consistent enough at great writing to be among the classics, but most of the time he has good storylines, interesting characters and engaging writing.
Word of warning though - he appears to be a big UK Labor party guy and he does have a liberal bent. That might put off some readers, especially TD readers. He does bash authoritarian regimes equally whether they are Nazi or Communist, or whatever, but his views are definitely shaded left.

My brother insisted I read this. 1000 pages of misery and torture (for me).

Finished three body problem and I certainly enjoyed it. The pace of the last ~50 pages was practically breakneck compared to the rest of the book as things really started happening fast there towards the end. At the end there was definitely a lot of sciency stuff that was way way above my head but you could catch the general gist of it to where it wasn't a big deal.
I'm undecided if I want to do the whole series. Of course I am curious about the fate of all parties but not sure if I want to strap myself in for 2 more books like that.

I just read the second book, World Without End, within the last few months. I'm probably in the minority here but I think I preferred it over Pillars.
Haven't read any of the others yet.

What If? 2: Additional Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions by Randall Munroe

I absolutely loved that set of books and watched the series of translated series scripts on YouTube in the aftermath.
I haven’t read the additional books attributed to the trilogy but, might soon order it.
Question: (side bar) how does one get admission on the team boards? Go Dawgs!
