What does a GED mean to you?

Would you hire someone who has a GED instead of a HS degree? Even if they had the experience? I would be reluctant as they have a history of messing up.

Why not?

What? What type of job and how old is the candidate?

Why can't you view that same GED as someone's good decision to try and right their life rather than continuing to make mistakes?

Or they are trying to better themselves by getting said GED.

Depends what type of job I was hiring for. If to paint houses or flip burgers...sure.
I can't understand how it's that difficult for anyone to graduate high school.

Is that the highest level of education?
What is the position?
What is the position?

Sure. Seems to me that the person may be more mature having gone through the process.

I'm not even sure how I would discover someone had a GED rather than a diploma. We don't verify high school education. I can't recall the last time I was asked details about HS in a work related capacity, like school & year.
I guess I'm saying I don't know why people wouldn't just lie & say they had a diploma if specifically asked. I probably would have a bias against a GED, unless they've gotten a college degree since.

I'm not in the position to hire people, but I would never hire someone who didn't have the resolve to finish the easiest part of their life.

Yes, to your question. Overcoming life's curves can be quite daunting

experience? I would be reluctant as they have a history of messing up.
How about trying yo not judge a book by its cover and find out what was the reason someone didn't finish HS traditionally?? I mean god forbid you take the judgements shades off while trying to staff a business.
But naaaaa frick that, judge that bitch, I'm sure there hasn't ever been an issue out of someone's hands of why they had to get a GED... frick it
I swear this board gets more retard by the hour

I know a couple with GEDs instead of high school diploma because they had messed home lives and it was quicker to just get the GED and move out

History of messing up??? Some people just aren't into High School, and want to get into the work field quicker. Or Just hated the place and got GED to move on.
If person has experience and no jail record, i could give 2 farks about GED.

messing up as a teenager. Does education really tell you anything anyway? It's not a good predictor of job performance at all.
There are also people who because of family crap need to start working full-time as soon as possible and get a GED at like 16 so they work more.

People go through a lot of different things in life. Some people don't have any support structure growing up and get into bad things as teenagers then figure things out as adults. If you don't understand how someone can have a difficult time growing up then you are just taking your own advantages and blessings for granted.
