No, but both are mediocre.

Agreed.

At least Revenge of the Sith was an original plot.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....pretentious blowhards refer to children as younglings.

none of the prequels were as good as 4-6 or TFA/Rogue One

TFA the safest, most convservative, mediocre film in the saga. All the same, episode VIII and IX could improve it in the future, so I'm reserving judgment.

The Force Awakens is looking worse and worse as time separates nostalgia from bad film-making.

(I sort of now hate all the characters except the old ones)

Yeah, they suck in hindsight.

This is what gives ROTS a big advantage on TFA.

Revenge of the Sith is my favorite of all of the Star Wars movies. The evolution of Anakin into Darth Vader is the most interesting part of the entire series.

4-6 is overrated and look dated as heck now. At least the 1-3 still holds up by today standards.

The concept of 1-3 blows the simplicity of 4-6 out of the water. However Lucas had poor skills to execute 1-3. The thing that can be credit to lucas is that everytime he makes the SW verse he expand the universe and it's lore. TFA did no such thing, it was in effect a wasted movie.

I'll go a step further and say Revenge of the Sith was better than Return of the Jedi. The middle portion of that movie was unwatchable with the Ewoks who were the precursors to annoying characters later on like Jar Jar Binks.

The Force Awakens was an entertaining film but it was hardly a great one. Disney used the tried and true MCU formula of playing it safe and ended up hitting a home run with it. If it ain't broke....

Completely agree. I'm not expecting anything different from Ep 8.

Nostalgia is what keeps the fanboys coming back. TFA was a very lazy movie. Rogue One was just bad all around.

Ehh... Abrams is a lot better film maker than Lucas, to be honest. 1-3 made that clear.

The story in 4-6 was extremely simplistic, and honestly, so were the characters. Force awakens didn't take chances plot wise, so that is a valid argument.

I thought Rogue One was great, but the TFA was so boring and recycled it was borderline insulting. That's what happens when there's 15 years of complaining in between movies.
