The Chancellor manipulates Anakin like a little puppet.

I wish they had made the hunting down of each Jedi a little darker and harder than platoons of clones just shooting them. Some of the Jedi went out way too easily if you ask me. I wish it had shown a group of about 5-6, including Ki-Adi Mundi and Plo Koon, hiding out on an outer rim system. Anakin finds them himself and slaughters them all in a scene that nearly gives the film an R rating for its brutality.

I was wondering how long it would take for this board to uniformly start bashing TFA and Rogue One. It was inevitable. Although I didn't see the praise for Revenge of the Sith coming. That was unexpected.

No. ROTS is the best of the prequals, but still not a good movie. If came close, but too many rediculous plot points, egregious CGI, and cringe dialogue sunk it.

The Force Awakens is flawed and unoriginal, but it's an overall fun movie with a lot of promise for the rest of this trilogy. Other than a few less than steller scenes (rathtar), Rey's inexplicable perfection of force techniques absent training (which may be explained in later films), the botched reunion with Leah after Han's death (which was admitted to be a mistake by the director), and the whole recycled deathstar trope (which I saw as putting that meme to bed, hopefully), it was an almost perfect Star Wars movie, nearly on par with ROTJ.

Agree

I've always thought hating on the prequels was just an overblown internet bandwagon thing personally

Truth be told, the whole Star Wars-verse is pretty overrated and mostly mediocre. If it hadn't attained geek religion status to where the movies can be judged objectively, the Star Wars films wouldn't be remembered near as reverentially. It has one good and one great movie in its inventory. The rest can be considered weak to mediocre, at best.

I wonder how much the supporting properties of Star Wars (video and computer games, novels, etc) that have expanded the universe make people over-regard the original movies.

least Revenge of the Sith was an original plot.

A movie gets remade: boooo give us something original!

An original movie comes out: boooo too formulaic

An off the wall movie comes out: boooo make a normal movie.

You see where I'm going with this?

Revenge of the Sith is my favorite of all of the Star Wars movies. The evolution of Anakin into Darth Vader is the most interesting part of the entire series.

I can agree with this

Honestly I thought The Force Awakens was the best film in the series.

Movies are about acting and drama. It had it in spades. A movie with bad acting cannot possibly be good, where a film with so so plot can be overcome with great acting.

Movies are theater. Writing and plot are not very important.

No. Revenge of the Sith is garbage. The Force Awakens is at least halfway decent. But has flaws on its own.

It's more of a "they're terrible movies that shamelessly butcher the source material with no realistic attempt at interesting storytelling or character development" thing.

The best thing about them are the Honest Trailers that followed.

The entire franchise has one great film out of 8.

Empire Strikes Back

And one really good film...

A New Hope

The rest is just fandom benefit of the doubt.

When you say butcher the source material, you realize George Lucas's head is the source material right so I don't understand your point. And let's not forget the amazingly original "death planet" and the non cliche girl power character development The Force Awakens had. That movie sucked donkey balls I don't understand the love it gets here

No. It's the best of the prequels but it's still not good. TFA is a fun movie.

The CGI is so overkill. I caught some of it on cable last night and it looked like a cartoon. I might as well have been watching rebels.
