Is going on and then forcing many reporters who would be going to the dinner to have to cover the rally itself and then overshadow the dinner itself.

Genius.

Granted the rally's time of the day isn't confirmed yet but it's a damn good bet that it will happen during the dinner.

I see a rally scheduled for Harrisburg PA one week from tonight. 7:30, I believe.

My thoughts:

(1) Good for him

(2) Mr. President, please don't take lyin' Ryan, the son-in-law, or the beautiful daughter with you. They need to stay home.

Would love to go since I'm only couple hours away. But I have a 1300 mi drive to La 4 days later.

Why couldn't Trump have scheduled his appearance at the NRA conference for the 29th so he could have a built-in excuse for not attending the White House Correspondents Dinner?

Why would anyone want to cover a pep rally? How much will this crap cost us taxpayers to let him get his little ego stroked?

I'm sick of this crap..

Why does he need to hold all these rallys all the time?

The last President to voluntarily skip the White House Correspondents dinner because he couldn't take it was Jimmy Carter.

Think about that.

Full disclosure, Reagan skipped in 1981 but that was because he was still in the hospital after getting shot. He went all the other years so I don't think I am going to count that miss as a miss.

Hopefully they will start a new trend and stop reporting on his rallies.

Should have the dinner and serve them tuna fish sandwiches on paper plates. I'd turn the A/C off as well.

Makes sense, he's too much of a bitch to attend and he needs to find a safe space to help his self-esteem.

That's a lot of trouble to go to just to divert from the fact that Trump isn't funny.

Don't get me wrong. I hate the media, but Trump is not a funny guy.

NBC political director Chuck Todd, "I'm sorry, delegitimizing the press is unAmerican,” he Tweeted.

Most false thing said in this whole debate.

Calling out the press...is precisely American.

“Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper,” Jefferson said then.

“FAKE NEWS media … makes up stories and 'sources,'” Trump tweets now.

I hope he has an epic announcement to go along with it so that all the people mocking the "pep rally" can melt even harder.

Trump wasn't my first choice, but the man is brilliant. Still playing 4-D chess.
