OT Parents: How do you handle State testing for your children?

Knowing that they stress about this test. They've been told all year this test determines if they move on to the next grade. Some Districts are doing a test a day, others are doing a full day of testing to knock it out quickly.
Testing sucks and is mainly pointless imo

Give them a pep talk and have a beer with them.

I think we should refer to test takers as testees.

Your children will do better if they enjoy the test.
Test are fun.

I think the teachers should have to take the test with the kids... see if they're worth a damn

I say you'll do fine and let them take it. Not the end of the world.

My daughter wants to enter the medical area like her parents, cardiothoracic surgeon in fact.
I just told her to not over think the question and do her best.
She will be 5 in September.

Tell them, they prepared and not to sweat it. Take it serious, but don't worry.
Last, they will not know the answer to every question. Answer the ones they can and go back to ones they didn't know.
I'm a teacher, and it's what I tell my kids.

I told them some days are tougher than others so enjoy the easy ones and that they'll be fine.

Tell them if they fail that I am trading them in for a better model.

I tell them that if they fail and get held back they will be punished for the next yr until they can pass the freaking tests
Posted on 4/20/17 at 5:33 pm to tduecen
Tell them it doesn't fricking matter and only reflects well or poorly on the school and no one gives a shite besides the newspapers.

I don't stress and neither does my child. The test does not determine whether they go to the next grade it only helps determine how the teachers are teaching the students and how good the school is. I tell my child take your time read very carefully and answer the best you can. Correct answers are better then finishing in half the time given.

I just send them to school like any other day knowing that they will score in the 99th percentile just like they always do.
