It's dawned on me... Mitt Romney was right again. This time about self deportation.

Remember when he said enforcing the immigration laws and getting tough on immigration would lead to "self deportation" and would deter many illegals from trying to come illegally in the first place?

Remember when he was mocked for it?

Again, he was 100% right.

Just like he was right about Russia. Say what you want about him, but the man does know his stuff.

The nation made a huge mistake in not electing Romney - He was the perfect man for the job at the time we needed him. A rare moment in history that was rejected by idiotic voters.

Romney would've been a great president. I hate how he acted during this last campaign, but that should not detract from his own candidacy.

Romney was right about a lot of things, but this is how he will be remembered:

Romney would have been great. I was lukewarm on him (but voted for him) because I was not convinced he was conservative enough. I was wrong. He would have been a great president and the events since then have only proven him more and more right.

What a shame.

On the self-deportation, I also believe that he would have been humane regarding families and children who have been here for years and would have allowed some kind of pathway for legal status/citizenship for those who qualify.

he was mocked for being a weirdo stiff with the personality of a baby rattle.

I made fun of him because of course he was going to lose. he was the only one who didn't know it.

Pretty much - something that just occurred to me as to why we went so hard for Trump = "if a genuinely competent, articulate, decent person like Romney cannot get elected, perhaps we need to get a gruddy no-holds-barred barbarian to carry the torch next time = hello Trump"

Any person with an ounce of common sense would realize this to be true.

Of course many democrats don't have common sense as they look at everything from some utopian perspective and call everyone who doesn't also believe in their utopia a racist.

there's more nuance to things than one point, but really it's a case study in not creating a distinction

key issue was healthcare, and Romney was for all intents and purposes in total agreement with his opponent, the first black president. if you want to beat an incumbent...you can't run on the same shite on the issue generating the most public interest.

it's so basic and elementary that I assumed he staffed his campaign with retards...then I saw max boot last night...I can now confirm that he staffed his campaign with retards.

He tried to play by the rules which cost him.

He would have been a far better POUTS than Obama.

"Romney is a very bright guy.

There is much to truth to your statements. Also, doesn't it seem quaint there was controversy over the fact that he was wealthy? His wife owned a horse!

Does he know his stuff about healthcare too? Because he basically invented Obamacare.
