According to Underhill:
Dude is a talented fly route runner, but he was also a little bitch. It's all going to be ok.

It seemed like everything was fine for a while, but perhaps the bigger focus should have been the fact that Cooks got into a loud argument in the locker room with members of the coaching staff after a 49-21 win over the Rams on Nov. 27, according to multiple sources.

Underhill is about the only local I trust, so I'll take this as legit.
By why the frick did this not come out before by anyone else? Unless it was without reporters around and they just gave Underhill the scoop on why he was traded.
I fully admit to being wrong on just about everything in this situation, from the overblown post to the alleged twitter war to the Saints shopping him and the compensation we'd get.
But it still pisses me off we didn't get more.

If this came out before the trade, then the Saints would have only gotten a 3rd round pick for Cooks and their 4th.

Same here. But it's doubtful we could have gotten any better it seems.
Him being unhappy was only going to grow even more into a problem and could become destructive in the locker room. He was never going to play for us after that second year because he knew we saw Thomas as the new No. 1 and we're likely to pay him and not Cooks himself.
I've talked myself off the ledge but I do hope we add a few more defensive pieces like Mo Claiborne and Zach Brown that way we can be flexible and take best defensive player available in the draft.

I fully get that part, but what I meant was if this happened in front of other reporters I think we would have heard about it. So this must have been without reporters around and the Saints just gave Underhill the scoop (he's the only local guy that seems to get them).
But on the other hand I fully believe they told Belichek about the incident before trading him, which may have slightly lowered what would have been offered.
They wouldn't do a dirty deal with the Pats because Payton respects Bill too much and they do deals all the time.
Now they may not have told any other teams. That I can't speak to.

What I'm confused by is his teammates disappointed by his departure. How big of a cancer could he have been if they are disappointed by the trade?

maybe that is their obligatory "he was such a nice guy and we will miss him" thing even if they don't feel that way?
or maybe they either agreed with cooks actions, or felt it was a 50/50 thing on whos wrong?
I hope its not the later or there are some serious shite going on behind the scenes.

It is disappointing to see a player act like that after a win.
I can certainly empathize with players who don't get their fair share of touches in a close loss and they feel like they could make the difference.
But the fact that he got so butthurt because Payton didn't call his number is just sad. Maybe he got pissed off because that sweet pass by Snead was supposed to be his?

Don't mean you make bad business deal, let's face it we get lucky sometimes but 75% of the player deals we make turn out bad for us and benefit the other team we are dealing with more. #fireloomis

His teammates are upset cause he was a good player

Starting shite in the locker room of a game that your team won by 4 TDs and you KNOW meant a ton to your head coach, just because you didn't catch a pass is so incredibly douchey and selfish that I think it honestly only took the one episode for them to realize he had to go.
Then they tried to feed him against Detroit and he was abysmal.
What's really interesting is that for a selfish guy who wants more balls throw his way, he's going to an organization where team first is the name of the game, and there are a ton of other quality receivers on the team.
Gronk, Edelman, Mitchell, Allen, Hogan are all gonna cut into his targets. He'll prolly win the super bowl tho so I'm sure will be fine.

Deuce said on twitter last night that he wasn't a cancer in the locker room. He doesn't really sugar coat things usually

Look at the teammates that dealt with him the most: His QB and fellow WR's.
I don't care as much what the defense says on twitter or our RB. Our QB took to twitter to take a veiled shot at Cooks and the other WR's take shots at him on Instagram.

He wasn't a cancer, he just pissed off the coaching staff, front office, and #9. That's the fast lane out of town.

I don't think any of this comes down to him being a cancer in the locker room. I don't think he was considered that. It just boils down to he let it known he was wanted to get paid big, and was unhappy there. The team knew in a year or 2 they weren't gonna be able to afford him and got something in return. I for one think we should have kept him till he was eligible to be a FA in a couple years.
The Patriots got a good deal, ours is unknown until we have draft. Even then, it will be unknown for a year or 2 to see how those players pan out.

Far from the first thing I've been wrong about and I'm never afraid to admit it, unlike certain other posters.

This kind of shite comes out when any player leaves any team in any sport.
It's called a fricking smear campaign.

Ingram has had shouting matches in-game with coaches. Then again, he has blackmail photos on somebody.
