Is Berkeley also required to provide a sign language interpreter for every physical class for that has a deaf person enrolled? If not this seems like selective application of the law which should be tossed out.

Kids are covered under the ADA for things like ADHD and Behavior disorders including "explosive disorder" and Oppositional Defiance disorder" which means they dont like authority. These kids learn that they can't be disciplined for their crappy behavior. Once they leave school, many if not most of them end up in someone's jail or someone's grave yard. I'm not speaking from experience with both.

That's the parent's fault. Not the ADA.

It wasn't cheap but my kids love riding the wheelchair lift when they come to the office with me. All 2.5' of it.

Not true. There are assistive technologies such as screen readers that can be installed on a computer that will read the content out oud to visually impaired users.

Section 508 of the ADA covers making electronic content available to those with hearing and visual difficulties (includes having captions or transcripts of audio, including alternate descriptive text for images, etc.)

I want to say Target got in trouble a few years back for not having sufficient alt text for images on their website.

That is extremely selfish on their part. Why do you want to hinder another person's learning and progress just because you have a disability? I know it isn't fair that some were born that way or may have had an accident later on, but you shouldn't want to hold everyone else back because of it. Very selfish

Title III cases solely for attorneys' fees are an absolute scam. Especially considering some circuits have sanctioned test cases.

frick both sides. Berkeley can eat a f'ing D, and the ADA administration should be wheeled into a lake.

It's always fun in NOLA when you get a head to head between ADA advocates and preservationists. There's a suit out there right now against the RTA because the green streetcars aren't wheelchair accessible. Never mind the damn things were built in the 20's.

Good assessment. Two friends of mine years ago opened up a garden center. Their 20X30 foot office was about two feet off the ground on concrete blocks. Because of being a public building, The ADA made them put in a ramp.

Exactly how many people in wheelchairs go to outdoor garden centers you reckon? A few probably but not enough to put the boys out to build a damn ramp. One told me a few years later that in the three years he was part owner not one wheelchair customer ever showed up.

I have often wondered how a blind person finds the signs. It seems like it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. All that space and area and the sign is what 12x12"....

How about 20,000 people do something about it, each watch a video and transcribe it?

Win, win, win.

By this logic, wouldn't Berkley's website be discrimination against the blind? Chalk boards, presentations, etc. They should probably cancel sports programs just in case.
