On 1/24 I noticed my gait changed all of a sudden. Googled and it sounded like foot drop in my right foot. Made appt with my PCP and a chiro. Was able to get appt with Chiro first. He confirmed foot drop. There was also numbness in foot and weakness when trying to lift foot from heel.
He took x-rays and didn't see anything alarming so wasn't too sure on cause. He suggested an MRI. I decided to see PCP first.
Saw my PCP on 2/3. At this time I began experiencing numbness in right butt cheek and back of right thigh. He says it's probably a pinched peroneal nerve below the knee and sends me to neurologist for nerve conduction testing. I have this done on 2/4. Neurologist says the foot drop isnt too bad. She does her nerve testing only below the knee and confirms compressed peroneal nerve right below knee. She prescribes a round of Prednisone for 20 days beginning with 50mg for 4 days, 40 mg for 4 days until it tapers off. She said the foot drop should fix itself but if not come back in 2 months. Of course, that doesn't address the numbness in right butt cheek and thigh that only happens when sitting.
I got through the weekend OK but this past Monday I began feeling like I have to pee all the time. I emailed PCP and let him know and also reminded him of the numbness. He thinks all of this may be side effect of prednisone. He said to finish my course of prednisone and hopefully these symptoms will go away... Of course I had the numbness before beginning the predisone, but he doesn't seem concerned.
Well I begin to Google and of course start seeing horrible diseases and syndromes so I freak out and have the MRI done to be on safe side.
I have 3 2mm bulging disks in my lower lumbar... One is L5-S1( I don't remember the other 2 off the top of my head, but I think it's L4 and L3. Chiro says that's not too big and he can definitely help. My appt with him is next Monday as he said he'd like to wait for me to be in the lower doses of the predisone to see what is a side effect and what isn't.
Anyway I'm still really freaked. I'm an active person and having this numbness and drop foot is an issue. I also don't see how they're not related. I'm having no back pain btw and dont remember hurting it although I was doing landscape work in front yard before this all began.
Any ideas OT medical professionals?

True story, the most common cause of arse cheek, leg, and lower back pain/numbness in men is sitting on your wallet. Make sure you're not doing that first.

Bet you have blown one of those bulging discs.

I have fricked up disk in my Lower lunbar L4-L5 with significant arthritis... I get the tingling from anywhere in the right arse cheek all the way to the bottom of my foot going numb or hurting like a bad Charlie horse type cramp Under my big toe.... just a nature of the beast... the more I stay active and healthy seems like the better it gets. Nothing else really works. Sometimes a small back brace under my shirt for stability is needed to help every 6 months or so but I try to no use it due to it weakening my core.
Ib profen alieve and water bruh
Oh and don't go to a Chiro

I was taking 40-60 mg of prednisone for shingles a couple months back. I was peeing constantly. You're good there. Just make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Med student here
Go see an orthopedic. Chiro isn't going to help. Far too often I've seen them make things like this worse

Go see an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine. Drop the chiropractor.

if you do have disk disease at this level it could account for your symptoms.
the L4-S2 are the spinal roots that innervate the lower leg and foot
while foot drop could occur with damage to the peroneal nerve (and often does) your symptoms along with the more proximal thigh and gluteal numbess point more towards a spinal issue
don't waste time with a PCP or chiropractor. go see a spine orthopod

Sounds like you have deactivated glutes, similar to Tiger Woods.

Prob need steroid injections. See if you can get in to see a pain management doc.

Sciatica. Inflammation of nerve root caused by disc at L5-S1. See orthopedist. Do not go to a chiroquackter. The prednisone might actually work. If not, you may be looking at a transforaminal intervertebral cortisone injection as a first step. Usually works first or second time.
