Guess you don't remember them making the playoffs the next couple years after. And talent wise...the 11 saints = 09 saints. Damn you roman Harper

You could've said the same thing about Carolina last year and look how that turned out

I disagree.

a few years ago people were gushing all over Seattle's future with their dominant D.

haven't won a Super Bowl since (probably should have though) if not for a bone head play call.

Green Bay was looking sharp after their 2010 season.. haven't even made it back to the SB since.

the NFL is watered down now.

New England is the most steady team going now but thankfully at least they are in the AFC.

What's sad is that over the last 5 to 7 years, our division hasn't been that great, we have a HOF quarterback, and we didn't take advantage of it.

They have done well building this team, but they have avoided the injury bug except for Trufant (SP).

The deal is and it is this way with 99% of the teams out there that when a team wins everyone increases their importance and wants a bigger piece of the pie.

It becomes harder to keep the band together.

The Patriots are the exception to the rule because they are the one franchise that know how to use the 4th-7th rounds to find players that are similar to the pieces they have.

Sad reality is that no one can predict when and where the injury bug will hit. The Falcons might be good next year or they could lose all of their running backs, half of their OL and Julio to various injuries.

To add to that point.

Atlanta only has 36 players under contract for next year and that includes some PS players.

So the actual roster is probably around 32 of 53.

You never know. Free agency causes a lot of turnover in all 32 teams every year. The Panthers went 15-1 last year and sucked this year

I agree with you. I think the Falcons will be good for a while. I also think the Panthers are going to bounce back pretty quick.

The Saints are in a tough spot, competition-wise. Even the Bucs aren't a pushover anymore. The NFC South is a lot harder than most people on the national scene think.

Even if the Saints improve next year, quality-wise, there's no guarantee we will see much movement record-wise.

creating a Seattle-esque defense

I hate when announcers and people say this. It's like just because it's Quinn and the Falcons say it, then it must be true. Nothing of their defense reminds me of Seattle's defense no more than it reminds me of any other defense.
And no, that stupid rookie Neal is not "Kam Chancellor". Just stop with the comparison because no one is doing that kid any justice. There is only one Kam Chancellor and that is why he is who he is. Neal is a good football player but he is not an enforcer the way Kam is.

Just because you don't want to believe it, doesn't mean it isn't true. Neal is a rookie. Vic Beasley is becoming Von Miller 2.0. Debo had a great year and also, he's a rookie. Their defense plays fast and nasty. Just watching the GreenBay game you could see their attitude was different. They were flying to the ball and laying the wood.

Seattle's D hasn't been the same since Quinn left and now Atlanta's is on the rise

Actually, it's just because people say it doesn't mean it is True.
Nothing against you for saying it, I blame announcers.
Seattle's defense hasn't been the same? Facts are facts. Last year they were 2nd in total defense, second in passing defense, and first in rushing defense??? That is falling off.
This year they had injuries to 3 of their 4 most impactful defensive players and still had the 5th ranked defense.
Vic Beasley has one good year and you are saying he is Von Miller 2.0??? He had 1 good year but a third of his sacks this year came in 2 games. He only had 39 total tackles compared to 78 by Von Miller. That is not Von Miller 2.0
The had the 25th ranked defense this season. Stop with the Seattle comparison because it isn't there.

Hmmm, I remember another team from our division making the SB last year and finishing last this year in the division. Maybe that becomes the new trend for our division. First to last instead of last to first.

Vic Beasley is not becoming von Miller 2.0 the rookie neal is really good and was there for the picking at 22 in the draft and no one grabbed him . Those two first round picks in Neal and Debi Jones are nice pieces to start your d off with. Scary to me

Also the kid Brian Poole their third corner is fookin good man, in coverage and great as a blitzer. Gave Rodgers his hardest hit of the year and I've seen him play like that in a bunch of games. But hopefully they get a few injuries ND some eople will leave like every year

Meh, Seattle finished 4th in defensive efficiency per football outsiders last year and 9th this year, but they were either first or second prior to losing Earl Thomas (their most important defensive player). Losing Quinn probably hurt a little, but they've also had a ton of player turnover lately as guys like Cliff Avril, Bruce Irvin, Byron Maxwell, Jeremy Lane, and now Earl Thomas etc have all either left or had year long injuries.

They make comparisons because Quinn was the Seattle D Coordinator. They aren't close to the Seahawks defense, but they are "Seattle-esque" because they run the same system Seattle does... therefore they are, by design, Seattle-like. Nothing to get worked up about, they have some young, fast, productive defensive pieces and their offense is far better than any Seattle has ever had. They have been lucky on injuries this season, and I think they won't be as good on offense without Shanahan.

I also don't think the Panthers are far from contending again, and I don't think the Saints are. The NFC South is looking very good moving forward, which sucks.
