Here's the rub:
Rick Burgess is selfish and despite his Christian beliefs, he knows nothing of what Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount. Instead he sees his religion as a tool for social and political control. Later in the article, she writes that when she came home after coming out, she was forced to meet her father at his office where he was waiting with a bible in his hand. It wasn't about her. It was about him and his staunch, ultra-conservative beliefs that were being forced to be considerate of another human being.
quote:
For the past three years, my father and I have been debating God's stance on homosexuality. It started with my Instagram post at a Pride parade: a picture of a mother holding a sign saying "I love my gay son." I got a text demanding its removal: "How dare you compromise my platform!?", "Remember who you represent.", "Are you a gay?"
quote:
This led to a constant barrage of shame. "You think you're so mod, so special. But you're nothing. You're typical."
quote:
I visited home this summer. I wasn't allowed too close to my siblings, for fear of infecting them with my queerness.

A guy who gets up at 3 am to do a morning radio show and hustle appearance fees and self-promotion can't be that involved in kids' lives.
I'm not sure I buy this. Who spends quality time with kids before school? He would still be around at night. There are far worse careers for parents.

Who is Rick and Bubba?
And this whiny little snowflake needs to realize that her life is irrelevant and her feelings don't matter.

I was trying to parallel the comment I was responding to.
The comment said that she could have kept her mouth shut and lived on with her life in private.
I say that Rick could keep his mouth shut about homosexuality and do the same for his daughter.
Who is really oppressed in this scenario? Rick who has been free to use a public platform to denounce homosexuality or his daughter who is being told to either admit her life is a sin that leads to hell or stay quiet?

It must depend on the team. I worked with one lesbian who played softball at Southeastern but the LSU and HS softball players I know are straight or at least closeted.
I don't know if it is still the case, but it used to be fairly prevalent that the girls who wore ribbons in their hair were hetero and the ones who didn't were gay.

Radio personality v bisexual activist
Who made her sexual inclinations public first?
If he outed her she has a legitimate complaint. If not she is a crybaby complaining that daddy doesn't like her immoral lifestyle.
Since she likes male and female, most parents would root for male since that route is the easiest to get grandchildren.
Wouldn't most Christians condemn a heterosexual son for cheating on his spouse with other women. A desire to have multiple female sexual partners is a natural sexual inclination for the vast majority of heterosexual men. Should not a Christian father condemn them both for acting on their sinful natures?
He should hate the sin privately with them, and love the sinner both publicly and privately. They can engage in politics every where.

Oh look, another person that feels the need to be a hero/victim and can't wait to tell the world about it for attention.

Consider how early one must go to bed regularly to be up at 3 to function and you'll see how this doesn't work.
I used to get up at 4:15 every day to go to the gym and get to work early and bust arse. I loved it and it was great. But then I had kids and I barely saw them because I was gone when they got up and was going to bed at 8 pm sometimes even 7 of I was really tired. My schedule was so out of sync with theirs I barely saw them. I changed.

Her dad is a paid radio personality who talks about his opinions on air. Maybe she's trying for a similar career?

I would never in a million years flaunt my sex life in front of my parents. This article shows a complete lack of respect for her family that she is willing to trash them in a public setting such as an op ed. She can eat pussy and scissors till she can't eat any more, but it will never change the fact that she is a selfish fricking bitch who cares more about her own sex life than she does her own family. Girl is straight up trash.

I mean, if you go to bed at 9 that gives you 6 hours of sleep (this is the most I ever shoot for). If you get off work at...11? 12? then you still have time to get a nap before the kids get out of school. If you get into a good habit of getting that 2-3 hour nap in you could probably go to sleep even later than your 9 pm deadline. Sure there would be days when you don't see your kids as much as you'd like but who doesn't have those days?

That's the truth for sure. They are the stereotypical bunch of northern liberal progressives sent from above to learn us old backward racist rednecks a thing or two. It's beyond absurd.
If Trump lived in Alabama he'd call them the "ailing al.com."

frick Rick Burgess.
He used the death of his son, Bronner, to make money off his sermons about "gods plan".
The kid drowned in the middle of February in an uncovered pool, because nobody was watching him and there was no child proofing on the doors. He was 2.
Yea Rick..... God planned for you to be an irresponsible a-hole. Guy makes 6 figures but couldn't afford a cover for his backyard pool. But please donate to the Bronner Burgess memorial fund and buy Rick's sermon on DvD.

She could also state her opinion without trashing her dad in it. Notice how she never states her dad publicly outed her on his radio show. She has basically forced him to talk about her, specifically, on his nationally syndicated talk show.

See my post to try and understand a little about the type of person her father is. I agree it's a bit of attention seeking behavior, but we don't know the full back story and I'm sure there's plenty of resentment to at least in her mind justify outing him publicly for being a dick
