It is tuscaloosa. What did he expect?

Tim made it clear he was leaving the state from the very beginning, remember he was really close to going to Miami.

He also had a questionable work ethic at the time. He always had an incredibly high ceiling, but wasn't putting in the work to reach it. He spent his freshman year in Saban's doghouse because of this

Okay, was that what it was? I couldn't remember the reasons, but that explains it. I do now seem to remember his having little interest in staying in state, now that you mention it. I just remember having a sinking feeling and thinking to myself, "If Saban wants him, I'm sure he'll eventually be a frigging star player for them."

Lane Kiffin is an offensive genius? What he did at Alabama was amazing?

You are obviously not qualified to speak intelligently about the sport of football based on your Lane Kiffin comments. You are out of your mind. My grandmother could call plays for Bama and they would be in the playoff.

He is in over his head as a head coach. He has proven this 3 times already. Us not falling for him as our OC was a BLESSING. Trust me and observe the next few years. He will be looking for work again soon.

Reminds me of the Johnny Manziel of college head coaches. He's a disaster waiting to happen.

I 100% agree. What happened last week and what caused him to get the Satan axe shows how much of a sack of crap he is and why he deserves to fail for the rest of his career.

Yep, he's been a dumpster fire everywhere. Can't wait to see what he does for the lulz at FAU

Honestly, at the time between Nov 27 and it Canada entered discussions, I wouldn't have complained if Kiffin had been hired.

I glad it ended the way it did, so far.

But with recruiting looking like it did with our 2 QBs and Akers, and a couple others, yeah... wouldn't have complained. Turns out it wouldn't have had an effect on Akers at all, but we didn't know that then.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn it was Saban who told Kiffin to hit the road. Saban can be a real tool when he wants to be.

He can be a "tool" for my team anytime he wants to be.

It seems pretty clear LK wasn't cutting the HC/OC gigs as good as Nick expected or demanded. So, Nick cut him loose.

Kiffen has been OC of some of the best offensive talent in the country. It could be a stretch to say he is an offensive genius.

Kiffin would have been a disaster here.
Da Coach O would have been in the position of imploring him to come and the result would have been Kiffin having a status of entitlement that would been ruinous to the program.
For those of us who were already concerned about The Orgeron's abilities as a HC, his plan to seek out Kiffin was disturbing.
Bullet dodged.

Saban' rehab project with Kiffin is like putting lipstick on a pig. If you look like one, smell like one, and squeal like one...you're a pig. Worse yet, Kiffin's an ungrateful Pig.

I really thought he could make a contribution here but, now I see he is a real nut-case, a problem for himself and any organization he is associated with.

I'm becoming a Orgeron fan, but one thing that seems very strange...his close friendship with such a tool like Kiffin. I get it they have a history together at USC and UT, but gives me a cause to pause and wonder about Orgeron's assessment of character.

Kiffin didn't view his relationship with The Orgeron as being close enough to let him know he was not going to come here as OC.
It possible Kiffin mislead O about his intentions, but, at a minimum, he let O get out on a limb about the prospect that he would come here.

I'm trying to figure out why you people can't take Saban and Kiffin at their word. Kiffin couldn't concentrate on his current job and his new job at the same time. Like Kiffin said he will still have input on the game and I'd bet he will surely be in Tampa and maybe even on the sideline.

FWIW this happens in the real world all the time. People that put in 2 week notices are let go on the date of the notice and paid for the 2 weeks very frequently for the exact same reasons that Saban and Kiffin both talked about.

Taking Saban & Kiffin at their words is one thing, but all coaches, under these circumstances, will never speak the complete truth. But take it fwiw, Kiffin on Mike & Mike this morning said that the decision to leave was initiated by him, as he found himself sitting in bama film sessions & his mind wandering to staff hires & recruiting for his new job. According to him, Saban wanted him to stay until it became clear Kiffin could not remain focused. He may be up in the press box, Sark down on the field in a reversal of their roles to meet NCAA rules.
