The NOPD Facebook posted about an hour ago that they are investigating a shooting in the 400 block of bourbon. One victim, male shot in the stomach... anyone know anything? Didn't see it anywhere else

Another idiot out without his bodyguard. Probably looking for drugs.

Was on Bourbon last night and they had at least 15 cops patrolling the street. Such a goddamn shame people can't even have a good time anymore without violence in some aspect.

Play stupid games.
I always thought N.O. was a gritty shite hole now it's a violent, gritty, shithole.
Tourist should really stop going there. There are plenty of other nice and fun city's where you won't be murdered by "The Culcha"

Was walking thru the FQ yesterday and thought there was an abundance of cops. Bourbon Street, as fun as it may be, is a disgusting stinking shithole when you're sober. The rest of it- Rampart, Conti, Dauphine, etc- aren't so bad. But they really need to clean up, and I mean literally clean up, bourbon. It reeks.

Not sure this fits the description of "wheelchair-bound"

Yes well Mitch should focus on cleaning the place up, filling some of the holes in the streets and sidewalks, in lieu of trying to pander to his base.
Lots of folks down there yesterday and not just football fans. Saw several international tour groups out and about. It's a goldmine if they just clean it up a little.

I grew up going to Bourbon Street and the Quarter and there was never violent crime down there. Lots of petty crime, pickpockets and such, but never gunfire. Meanwhile, NOLA was the murder capital of the US so it isn't as if there wasn't violence. The difference between then and today was how the NOPD was allowed to police. Back then, standing around in groups was not allowed. By anyone (since I am sure someone will be along to scream racist any time now). You were either walking Bourbon or in a bar.
I went down there a few weeks ago for an event and someone wanted to walk down Bourbon around 11. It was an entirely different place. Large groups of mostly young males just standing on corners staring at each other and blocking the street and sidewalks. It was apparent that many of the people standing around weren't old enough to be in bars. This just seems to be a recipe for disaster and fights / violence. As crazy as it seems, maybe some sort of No Loitering ordinance is called for in the Quarter. I can guarantee that troublemakers aren't going to want to go to Bourbon for the night if it means they have to constantly walk.

Yes, the no loitering would help and also a liberal stop and frisk policy.

And both would be labeled as targeting blacks and never happen.
