Gets cold as a mofo with lots of snow and ice. And ain't nothing between there and the north pole but a barbed wire fence to block the screaming north wind!

so I don't have to live in Midland/Odessa...probably within 2-3 hours drive.

There's nothing within 2 or 3 hours of them. You have San Angelo and Abilene. Both blow. Those are your only 4 choices. Honestly, if you can find an apartment for less than 1800 a month (may be less now), just go for it in Midland. Odessa is especially terrible.

On second thought, if 2 or 3 hours isn't a biggie, live in Lubbock for sure. At least you can bang some fat college hoes. That's your only option.

No it is not. West Texas is honestly one of the better parts of this country.

I've lived in West Texas and no it is not. Was offered a nice salary to live there full time and refused it. It is awful, especially if you're a single male. There isn't a hot chick in her 20s for 400 miles. Any chick you check out in Midland is in high school.

Sweetwater has a good football program.

Historically, Abilene High is a very strong football program as well.

Is the Frio River anywhere near where you will be.

The Frio is beautiful in spots. Far west Texas is truly horrendous unless you want to go Jeremiah Johnson. Otherwise it's awful.

Got ya, if I dont get hired on with the operator I am contracting to right now in the next 6-8 months I look to go back to service. If I can get into the right product line with yall or big red I will probably end up in that part of the world myself.

Lived in San Angelo back in 1991. Nice small town with a college (Angelo State). Kind people. Heart of the Concho Valley. Elevation was around 1900 feet. Lots of hills. Only about twenty inches of rain per year. Has everything you want without being Houston or Dallas.

West Texas is great

It's not as bad as you are all making it

I'd live in West Texas any day before here in Seattle
