Because statues are trashy

We know who shouldn't be on the short list of sculptors if a Cannon statue happens-

The whole stature thing at LSU is a little out of whack if you ask me.
Shaq and Bob Petit both deserve the recognition they get but Pete Maravich should have been the first statue regardless of whether the PMAC is named after him.
And yes, Billy Cannon does deserve a statue.
Get over the issues he dealt with...he has more than paid his debt and made amends. He's a good man.

So do you refuse to acknowledge his heisman and go out of the way to say the Halloween run didn't happen? Who cares about his conviction, it was a non-violent crime that happened a looong time ago.

We should also name the communications building after Leslie Miles

I'm not a big fan on statues but I do think they could do something like rename gates after famous players. Instead of gate 10 it would be the Billy Cannon gate.

I think there should be a statue of LSU's only Heisman Trophy outside the stadium.

His number is retired. That's good enough.

Billy Cannon was a star during a time where the best were being segregated still. Seriously, you want a statue of a one play wonder?

No, as it is, I hate that every Halloween game we overhype Cannon's run against Ole Miss. We hung on to that as if it was the only exciting play in LSU history. Gawd, it Is sickening how many times that grainy film is run.

Hello, Mr. Dense! The funny thing about the "one play wonder" game you are referring to is that the punt return wasn't even the biggest play. His defensive stop on the games final play to keep an Ole Miss runner out of the end zone is the play that sealed that game.
