I got a Grand Cherokee Laredo that will die while I am driving. Nothing is wrong with the starter, you can hear it trying, but it won't start. We had the fuel filter and pump replaced and it still does this. I'll be driving down the road and it most often happens when I begin to brake then go again. I can feel it lose power steering and no longer accelerate.

It'll stay dead for a bit, get going and run for a week then die again.

Any help from the OT mechanics?

I say this as a Jeep Grand Cherokee owner. Cut your losses and buy another vehicle

Had the same issue with a Fore Escape awhile back and it was the throttle body. I replaced it myself and im by no means a mechanic. Check into that. Google your model and see if you get any hits on that.

My dad just had this happen on his jeep. They ended up replacing the computer in it.

I had this issue twice with different trucks.

It was the ignition coil both times.

Could just be the timing or plugs.

I was looking into a previously posted problem. It mentioned low vacuum as a potential problem for sudden stalls.

If that is the problem here, then stepping on power brakes, which uses vacuum, would aggravate your problem.

If you have power brakes, look for a loose/disconnected vacuum hose.

I replaced spark plugs in mine to help with that problem.
But my best fix was to trash the Jeep during the "cash for clunkers" program in 09.

hello hello helloo

The poster above already said it: Crankshaft position sensor....costs about 10-15 bucks for the parts and you could replace it yourself if you have a good set of tools...
maybe $150 at a shop.

Do yourself a favor and go to a Jeep forum...not a sports forum....helloooooooo

Could be a throttle body or a MAF senor issue.

Not running worth a shite is perfectly normal for Jeep products.
