Nationals 5 vs Dodgers 6 - Final - Series tied 2-2

Should Kershaw pitch on 3 days rest?
They announced they will, but should they? Does this give them the best chance to win the series?
I'm generally anti start on three days rest unless its a final game of the series. Also they can't start Rich hill on full rest for game 5 anyway.
So is Kershaw on 3 days and Hill on 3 days better than Urias and Kershaw on full rest?

they gotta get to game 5 to worry about game 5 BAW

You hitch your wagon to your guy. If you're the best pitcher in baseball, making 30 million dollars, and are the face of the franchise, you are the one that's got to get your team through this

They are trying to win the series not win game 4. Faulty logic.

You can't "grit" your way through it, I'm fairly certain the numbers show pitchers preform significantly worse and for less innings on 3 days rest than full rest.

Hill has never pitched on 3 days rest, go with the rookie and then Kershaw

Correct. They need to win 2 games. Doesn't matter if they win today then lose game 5. And Kershaw has a poor history on short rest.

I think it's a mistake. We should score runs today (probably won't cause Dodger October derp) and I like Urias at home over whatever the hell we are gonna do in a Game 5 on the road now against Scherzer.

5 innings and rode the bullpen and then hope Kershaw goes 7

I think they should, but history & statistics aren't favorable. Since '95, teams are 9-18 when starting a pitcher on three days rest in an elimination game.

He's better on short rest in the playoffs than regular rest.

They probably were able to pitch their #2 on full rest in both those series for game 5. This is the main concern with this series, they can't because of the weather postponement.

I would hate to lose an elimination game leaving my ace on the bench.....

and starting Kershaw is the easy thing to do. No one is gonna say shite if they start Kershaw. The problem is the win this game first mentality is not correct when you could get two different performances out of the starter.
You basically have to start Urias in game 4 or 5, so why not do it game 4 and give Kershaw the chance in game 5 on full rest. Either way Urias will have to pitch in an elimination game, so that aspect is out the window too.

Dallas, I think I agree with you but I actually trust Roberts here.
IMO, Roberts is not the problem at all. It is his players and their lack of execution in critical spots.

If you've got to win two anyway (and the Dodgers do) and the Nats are throwing a guy that hasn't made it more than 4 innings in awhile (Joe Ross), I'm not sure why you don't hold Kershaw for normal rest. You'll have Scherzer going against the pupu platter in game 5 even if you do get game 4.

I know it's not exactly apples to apples, but this kind of goes to the Showalter thing last week. I think 95% of the MSB thought he was brain dead for not using Britton around the 9th. Baloo made a decent point in response that at some point you need to save the game to win the game, so keeping Britton on ice wasn't all that egregious, and the same result would likely have happened as they would have just burned out Britton in the 9th/10th.

That could happen in game 5. Should the Dodgers bring Kershaw back on one day rest?
