I'm fairly certain the numbers show pitchers preform significantly worse and for less innings on 3 days rest than full rest.

Depends on the pitcher. I think a lot of guys who have more of a finesse game are nastier on short rest. It isn't universal or anything like that, but think about Poche against Rice last year.

. I think 95% of the MSB thought he was brain dead for not using Britton around the 9th. Baloo made a decent point in response that at some point you need to save the game to win the game

Its different for several reasons

1) Saving Britton for the save didn't increase the odds of him pitching better(short rest).
2) The game could end at any inning, the Dodgers on the other hand have to win 2 games. The dodgers at a minimum will have to pitch 18 innings of baseball to win this series.

I'd save him for game 5 but i don't think either decision is really terrible.

However, the "you have to win game 4 to get to game 5" logic is retarded.

I'm not familiar with SP warmup routine and how taxing it is v. throwing a bp session on your off day.

Since they are the road team and are hitting first, could they put Kershaw in the lineup but sub him out if they say, score multiple runs in the first inning? Does he have to throw 1 pitch before they sub him?

Can't get to game 5 if you don't win game 4. Have to pitch your best pitcher. Absolutely pitch Kershaw, even on 3 days rest. You're giving him $30 million a year for a reason.

Yes, especially since you believe he is your best option. There have been multiple teams that have gone to 3 man rotations for playoffs/series.

They are the home team, but theoretically if they score 4 or 5 runs in the bottom half of the first, I guess it could be possible to pull him and save him for game 5 right?

Should the Dodgers start Kershaw on 3 days rest?

Nope, because...

So is Kershaw on 3 days and Hill on 3 days better than Urias and Kershaw on full rest?

Nope.

They have to win both games, so play the best aggregate odds.

If they need Clayton Kershaw to out-duel Joe Ross, they don't have a prayer in this series.

They could sub him out, and no he doesn't have to throw anything.

you are right, I thought they were on the road for some reason. I doubt they would do it if he actually pitched. Like i said, I'm not even sure you could do it if they were on the road. The warm up process may be too taxing on the arm.

I think would have thrown tonight no matter what. People are forgetting the rain out and the travel day, so technically he is pitching on his regular day.

2 reasons I wouldn't

Injuries he's dealt with this year

And the fact he's look rather normal in playoff starts to begin with, historically

I understand why they had faith in him but I don't agree at all with this move

He started game 1. They had a rain out and a travel day this is game 4, so not really.

He is going on 4 days.

The rain out removed the travel day, so no he is not pitching on his regular day.

He started game 1 Oct. 7th, today is Oct. 11th, that's 4 days later as opposed to the usual 5.

Yes
His workload has been far less this season as well with his injury

So he is not going on 3 days either. He is going on short rest but not 3 as the title suggests.

I think if they get to WS or to NLCS vs Cubs they will go 3 man

That is the only way they have a shot.
