I love Coach O but there is no way, in you know what, that the AD, BOS, and TAF are going to allow him to stay the HC after this season.

They are going with a proven offensive guy who runs a dynamic offense and can develop a QB.

Its gotta be an offensive guy at HC with a protege type OC.
We will have a great DC if Aranda stays but its just crazy to keep this notion that O is gonna be given the reigns.

I disagree. If he wins out and wins the SEC, he will remain the coach. Hell, all he really needs to do is give Bama a beat down to be retained.

I agree, I hope it's not Orgeron, maybe his tenure at Ole Miss is still stuck in my head, but either way, we need a dynamic offensive guy, who can develop Qb's, and establish a down field passing game. The defensive staff is already setup with Aranda, and Raymond, and hopefully Orgeron.

what if he hires a kickass OC that can do that? What about that tough guy?

Honestly I don't want an offensive coach. I want one who will hire great coordinators. But defense has been LSU's trademark for the last 100 years. You want to see a coach get run out of town in half the time Les got ran out? Have a weak defense LSU team that looks like the Saints.

Re: "Coach O" worship... I recommend taking a look at the big picture. Do you see him pictured with a white board drawing up schemes with a marker to the DL? Now go look at the picture of JT Curtis' high school team looking at coverage and schemes during the game on their Ipads.

Did you see Coach "O" in front of the press talking about flipping things going on with unimaginative bromides described with "dis an' dat?" Do you people ever look back at the complete disorganization, lack of oversight and big fail at Mississippi? How about the USC time... 6-2 was NOT a stunning achievement given the schedule, and the performance of the team was still characterized by wild free lancing.

What is it about some of LSUs fan base that wants a semi-literate coach to represent the University: one who talks in fractured English, isn't apparently technologically savy, thinks football especially line play is all physical wild boy stuff. Heck maybe he even chews grass?

So, hire "O"... You will be HOPING that he has "learned and improved" from his Mississippi time, and his USC time, and that he hires this or that OC, DC, hands off this, hands on that, dramatically changes who he has appeared to be for years, etc., etc., etc. Just how many "ifs, maybes, change, do differents" does it take to raise a red flag?

Just remember, the expectation for this season largely depended on believing that all those returning starters were going to improve and not just be the same players they were last year. How did that work out?

PS: What has anyone seen in our DL play this year that makes people think "O" is a great DL coach?

Agreed 100%

You don't fire a coach with Les' record and pay him $12 million dollars to go, then turnaround and go cheap and boring by promoting your freaking DLine coach.

If that happens, it was a pretty shitty plan all along. I mean i GUESS if like 8 other candidates fall through, we would have no choice, but that option needs to be way down the list.

He has an 8 game audition. If they go 6-2 or better then hire him on the spot. If not then put his name in the hat with the rest of the candidates and give him a courtesy interview.

This is one of those statements that's just crazy to attach your name to.

You never know.

Someone needs to explain this to me. Wasn't Les Miles an "offensive-minded coach"? I'd say he was (just not the kind anyone wants).

Is Nick Saban an "offensive-minded coach"? No. Hell no.

The difference is, Miles was hands on, and Saban is hands off. He let's his coordinators coach.

So, someone please explain to me how an offensive minded coach is so much better. I'd rather the best damn coach LSU can get, and then he let's his damn coordinators coach. Otherwise, the coordinator is useless.

Have you thought about the scenario in which Herman/Fisher turn the job down. I guess Briles next, but no one wants to remember the beat down at the hands of Michigan State that proved a high school offense won't work with the big boys. Petrino? probably staying at Louisville who gave him the second chance. He seems to have really turned a leaf or something. If you are saying that it is between O and a Fedora give me O all day. I'm with y'all on Fisher/Herman but don't tell me the program would be better long term with Fedora.

Lets let the season play out. I am sure Alleva is working behind the scenes to feel out the candidates he has on his list. He knows O would take the job in a heartbeat. There are 8 weeks left. Its a long time and alot of games to be played.
