Some facts most people dont know about Hurricane Katrina

The final death toll (directly or indirectly) from Hurricane Katrina was 1,833 people.
Some reports have it at 1,836.
Louisiana 1,577
Mississippi – 238
Alabama – 2
Florida – 14
Georgia – 2
705 people are still reported as missing
At some points during the storm, the winds of Katrina were timed at 174 miles per hour
The total damage of Hurricane Katrina is an estimated $108 billion
15 million people were affected by Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina caused over 400,000 people throughout the Gulf Coast region to lose their homes.
Hundreds of thousands of residents in the storm-affected area are said to still be unemployed to this day due to Hurricane Katrina
The largest single donation came from Kuwait in the amount of $500 million.

the death toll certainly doesn't count those that died a slow death long after from depression and it's related maladies.

Has anyone ever done a suicide study on this? I bet there was a big spike in suicides amongst the people affected negatively by the storm.

11 years later and hundreds of thousands are still unemployed? I am sure some have a valid reason to be unemployed 11 years after the fact but there is absolutely no reason for hundreds of thousands to be unemployed. The fact is they would be unemployed if no one ever knew of a hurricane Katrina. Those people were also unemployed before.
