Looking to take the wife out for our anniversary on Saturday. Looking for a nice place. We have been to Palace Café and Mr. B's for the last couple years. We love Mr. B's but I wanted to surprise her with something different. Any suggestions? TIA

If you are trying to stay in the Quarter, Fins is my favorite. Irenes also has a a great atmosphere for an anniversary.

Any location in the city is fine.

My favorite two meals recently have been at Compere Lapin and Carrollton Market. CL has a better ambience I suppose, but loved the food at both.

With where you like to go prior I highly recommend Luke.

Really depends on what you and your wife enjoy. The two restaurants you mention are not what I think of as "anniversary" restaurants, so we may differ on that. The main thing is to go where you think you would both enjoy your meal and the atmosphere. That being said I'd recommend considering the below. There are plenty more out there.
Commander's Palace
Gautreau's
August
Delmonico
R'evolution
Lilette
Brigtsen's

Bayona is nice for a dinner for two.

I just tried Brigsten's last weekend. I thought it was truly great.
They have a seafood platter that I think everyone should try. It's not a plate of fried food, but something similar to tapas. I think it may change a bit depending on the day but it's mostly the same. 3 of our group of 6 got it and all loved it.
The star of the dish was a fried drum topped with crab meat. Loved this.
There was a baked Oyster LeRuth cooked in one of the steel oyster plates. On another of the oyster shell/plates was a scallop cooked with some sauce and asparagus. Both really good.
There was a shrimp on top of a cole slaw with some flavor. There was another shrimp that was baked into something...not sure what it was. It was the size of a small shot glass and the shrimp was nestled half in and half out of it.
The most surprising was the jalapeno cornbread with shrimp in it. It came out with a pat of butter cut into it that quickly melted.
I had a gumbo for an app and it was pretty good. Dessert was pecan pie with a caramel sauce. There's a plate that is covered in their caramel sauce with the pecan pie on top. A little too rich for me but everyone else raved about it.

I love the seafood platter there.
This was particularly good when I had it with crawfish. It's in a ramekin and sort of like spoon bread. It's not an actual piece of cornbread.
I have an unhealthy addiction to the pecan pie dessert. I agree that it's rich, but it sure is good. It's a good dessert to share.

The Caribbean Room is what you are looking for. Service, ambiance, food--all top notch.

There are so many good places that it is hard to go wrong.
The wife and I have eaten at Bayona, Brigtsen's and GW fins (among other places in New Orleans). Of those 3, I would go with Bayona. There is nothing wrong with the others, but we had an anniversary dinner at Bayona and loved it.
Bayona is an intimate restaurant in an old house.
When you make the reservation, mention that it is your anniversary. They will treat you very well. It is very romantic and the food was awesome.
Get the sweetbread.

Have you eaten there yet? I haven't seen much on it other than about the difficulties in getting a reservation.

I love commanders for special occasions such as this.

Great list.
I was going to say "I would add Emeril's DelMonico to it", and reread and saw it there, lol.
