Anyone have a company come do it for them and how much did they charge.
Just trying to see what to expect cost wise.

Thanks in advance

Around 1600 sq/ft

Just do it yourself, it isn't difficult, just time consuming. Who knows how long you would have to wait for a company to come do it right now anyways

I've seen a few contractors charging about 1.75ft. If you have insurance that is going to cover the cost then why not. Just make sure you go with someone who is licensed, insured/bonded, and get a written invoice. Take photos before, during and after.

It's not hard to do. Get a wheel barrow, 4 friends and save your money. You could do it in a day.

do you know what needs to be done when removing sheetrock?

im being serious, get 3-4 mexicans at home depot and direct them what to do. I guarantee that they'd take $100 or so a piece for a days work. It's not hard work and anyone that pays thousands to do it is a fool

Sheetrock & insulation removal, with drying fans and dehumidifiers on my approx. 2000 sqft house after the 2011 tornado cost around $8,000.

That was just that my roof was off and it rained for a couple of hours. Imagine standing water in the house is going to be a good bit more.

I did one wall for a bunch of women to show them how... and they did the rest of the house. Hell, they did a neater job than most I've seen.r

It ain't hard.

You could pay for cheap some undergraduate or graduate students to do it, we need all the $$ we can get . A few other grad students, professors and myself just helped another professor from our department, took a few hours but we got it done and did a pretty good job

The prices can be crazy high--I did hear 15K today for something that a regular contractor quoted out at $3500.

A lot of these mold and water abatement people are storm chasers who come in and charge the absolute top of the market and capitalize on fear. Not all of them I am sure, but after Isaac that was the source of a lot of complaints by homeowners. Homeowners realized after the fact that they had been charged huge prices by a company to do work that they could probably have done themselves.

In any case the company is supposed to be licensed in the state of Louisiana. A lot of these out of town guys are not, and once they realize they have overextended themselves or are ready to go back home, they will leave town. If you realize they did a crappy problem later, good luck tracking them down and doing anything about it.

BRSA, I have not read through this thread to figure out if you have found a company to help you. If not my brother in laws company is currently working in my parents subdivision(Shadows at White Oak), Azalea Lakes and Zachary. His next move its to Denham and then Ascension. He is local, insured, and bonded. Im risking it but here is my personal email, I am looking to help as many people as possible with his company, you will not be screwed and everything will be documented.

Buy a knife at Home Depot. Cut about a foot above water line and haul outside.

Do it yourself and save that money
