As for the Bayou Fountain/Ward Creek system, it is already getting high at the Mancac Point.

Great post and thanks for the update. I am on a canal that drains to Bayou Fountain and I can confirm that the water has started coming up after falling last night. The backyard dips down pretty steeply to the canal but water is almost up to where the backyard flattens out up to the house.

Please let us know where you are at, this is important as Bayou Fountain is the next system to flood.

Goddamn, I know you hate animals in general and pets in particular, but you're treating this event like "The Day After" when they made poor ol' Rusty stay outside to die out there. frick off, why don't you.

Same situation. Mom is back by Kathy drive BREC. water halfway up the yard, starting to pack and move things around the house. How much higher are higher going to get back there?

No idea. That's what I'm trying to find out. Not sure if I want to make an hour drive to go get them with water 1/2 way to the house. No one knows if it's still rising or not

1) How far does the Clay Cut system backflow? That will give us an idea on how far Bayou Fountain will.

Can confirm friends on Inniswold Rd.--streets are dry, no backflooding coming through street drains as of now

No shite, that is funny. Brian brought them to my aunts off Flannery. This morning he had to go rescue them from there. They are on their 3rd rescue. I sold my house a couple weeks ago, but my storage unit flooded. I am surrounded in central, but dry. I feel worthless not being able to help

We left for Destin on vacation yesterday morning thinking all family was ok. Well they aren't . People are but houses aren't. We want to help but don't know how. We want to come back but don't know what we would do once we got back.

The guy on the news said they have gauges on the Amite at Jones Creek and Clay Cut. Is that true? If so why don't they use them. He said Clay Cut still has a couple of feet to go.

For those of you launching boats, remember to park your truck on higher ground. During hurricane rita, lots of guys launched on the side of the road and left their trucks there not thinking that the water was still rising and they lost their trucks.

Be safe everyone.

Is there a map which shows the areas flooded and those which might become flooded?

Thank you

I don't hate animals. I just don't think people are grasping the reality of just how bad this situation. Is about to get. And I don't hate pets, I just can't stand humans dying because they didn't want to leave Frisky behind.

No issues. I live near the school. Except for a few houses in the back of the neighborhood near Bayou Duplantier, our hood is high and dry.

I've just made a map of the current flow situation in Baton Rouge:

Red arrows are confirmed backflow.

X's are places where water is currently flowing up over the road and increasing water depth, active flooding situations.

This is clear that the crest is reaching where Clay Cut flows into the Amite, and backflow is occurring along these locations.

The DASHED lines are places at risk for backflow. Because the X's are active flooding situations that are relatively new, this means that anywhere up the dashed lines might see active situations as well very soon.

The blue arrows show normal flow along Bayou Fountain. That is expected to change relatively soon.

Since you've nailed it so far.. Are you pretty sure the crest has reached Clay Cut? The guy on the news said it has a couple of feet to go but he may be looking at old data.
