I drove over there about 8am. I couldn't get to the Target lot, but the whole area on the overpass was being used as a staging area. If I had to say, it looked as if the parking lot was OK.

Yeah, so far we are ok. worried about this back flooding issue.

Oneal Lane is flooded now. Water is close to entering our Vet clinic. It was clear last night and came up several feet since then.
If it comes up 3-4" more, the clinic starts taking in water.

Anyone know anything about Bayou Fountain crest in the Highland Rd area? We are on a canal that drains into Bayou Fountain and water is still coming up in backyard. Obviously, Fountain drains to Manchac and it looks like Amite at Manchac still has about 3' more to go? Wondering if anyone worked out the impacts of that yet? Thanks

Hey everyone,
So I spent some time looking at the river gauges and this is what I can determine:
Backflow is currently occurring along all of the red arrows. Clay Cut is currently the system that is experiencing the freshest backflow and this is evident by this river gauge, located where the red X is above:
https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lix&gage=cbal1
The Clay Cut system is not well gauged. So we will have no idea, short of watching that gauge, if back flow flooding is occurring. We may get reports from anywhere in this area though:
So if anyone has reports from this area please tell us.
As for the Bayou Fountain/Ward Creek system, it is already getting high at the Mancac Point. When the crest reaches Manchac Point, that is where we will have peak problems along Bayou Fountain.
Things to watch:
1) How far does the Clay Cut system backflow? That will give us an idea on how far Bayou Fountain will.
2) Are any of the Bayou Fountain gauges showing backflow?
This is the gauge I am watching which should be the first to indicate backflow on Bayou Fountain. It is occurring and still rising.
Here is the link:
https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lix&gage=mcol1
This is the second spot I'm watching. This location will have direct, IMMEDIATE impacts on Bayou Fountain. Note how it was curving like it was cresting, but now is curving in the opposite direction - to me, this indicates that water is about to flow into the Bayou Fountain system.
(This is the location of that gauge, so that you see exactly why it is an important gauge):
Remember: If it looks like it has gone down, that does not mean you are out of danger, especially in the Ward/Fountain areas. LOTS of people went to bed last night thinking they were safe an had to be rescued.

What neighborhoods and what storm drains are you talking about? Nothing like that is happening in Springlake/Fairhill or Summerwood, for example, as of a couple hours ago. You've been talking about that even before then, but you never say where!
westhaven. springhill/fairhill is fine a lot has to happen to get that area flooded. watch the summerwoood/westhaven subdivisions

Will there be any way to get from NOLA to Watson that's passable? My parents house is basically gone and I'm picking them up from a shelter to live with me while insurance gets figured out.
While it's not one hundred percent I have to grab them today, they didn't have their shite planned out and forgot medicine and other stuff

I heard.
Texted with Todd early this AM. He said LANG rescued them to her mom's house and then Brian had to rescue them from her house. It took a major flood for your inlaws to finally visit.
We are still dry here.

Anyone in the avalon neighborhood off Millerville? In laws are in there. Still dry but water 1/2 way up the yard. Is the water still rising in that area?

Just had to get the national guard and evacuate from just south of i12 at Walker. The water fell all night long, the. From 6 am on the water rose back at rates no one could predict.

Still haven't heard anything from my parents or my aunt and uncle(where they are staying at). Found out the name of the subdivision they live in off Tiger Bend/Elliot....Rose Hill.
Just got off the phone with my cousin....they have friends in that area that said while tiger bend is flooded bad....the subdivision is much higher up and it appears none of the houses are threatened at the moment.
