Anybody know what's really going on at the Baton Rouge General Hospital?

The CEO resigned unexpectedly today. The new interim CEO is the 4th CEO in the last 3 1/2 years.

Does this have something to do with the previously announced "partnership" with Ochsner?
quote:

Baton Rouge General/General Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Slyter is no longer with the organization as of Tuesday.

The health system offered no explanation for Slyter's departure.

“The board of trustees appreciates Mark’s contributions over the past three years and wishes him the best in his future endeavors,” Joe Juban, chairman of Baton Rouge General/General Health System, said in a news release.

Baton Rouge General Chief Operating Officer Edgardo Tenreiro will serve as acting CEO while the board does a nationwide search for a permanent chief executive.

They have a history of CEO's with a penchant for necrophilia

this typically means a merger is about to happen. from my experience this isn't a bad idea. having burger king owning half the ER makes the 8 hour ER visits much more enjoyable and healthy

Well considering this CEO left a couple of years back to take a job at a different hospital, where he lasted all of 3 months, I think it might have something to do with him and not the General.

I don't know anybody who goes near the Lake since it became the charity hospital.

Last I heard, it wasn't so much a merger but a partnership with Ochsner

It's sort of both. A partnership in terms of business structure but really a de facto merger.

People chase the money. If OLOL has more patients and offers greater access to them through their larger network, a doctor would be a fool not to partner with them.

Just because OLOL accepts charity eligible patients does not equate their whole system to being charity

Have you been to OLOL lately?

Walk the halls at night, esp the ER.

Its like a 5 star resort charity hospital.
