My aunt's brother had one of his poles end up in the canal while he was night fishing. Not sure if he slept but by the time we woke up in the morning he had caught his pole with a 3lb catfish still hooked.

Yup. Big red broke my line in one pond. Caught him again a couple hours later in the neighboring pond. Got my spinnerbait back.

ETA: This is him.

Last year in Toledo Bend I caught a rod and reel. It had a bunch of line still in the water. Reeled it up and it had a catfish on it. Does that count?

When I was a kid we were fishing on the south end of Old River. My dad had his nice rod and reel proped up under the outboard control. A big ol sacalait pulled the whole rig down. Dad was pissed. Next morning we were fishing the same hole when I caught a fish. There was another hook and line in its mouth. We pulled up the line an it was my dads rod and reel from the day before.
Dad was so excited. Damn I miss him

Yes, an old rusty hook on the lip. And, as a bonus find, a bass with an entire plastic lizard sticking out of the bass's arse with just the head and shoulders in the bass.

bream fishing in Crackerhead...removed the hook out of a good un and threw the line over while I was putting it in the ice chest...rod and reel goes overboard in 7' of water...drug around for a while with a expanding lure retreiver and nothing...5 minutes later I caught a catfish in the same spot that had my rod and reel hooked to it...

At coon point one day my brother caught a trout. When we unhooked it we realized he snagged the swivel of a line that was in its mouth. The previous line broke above the swivel and my brother hooked the swivel. Damnedest thing I've seen while fishing. Had I not seen it I would say he was full of shite.

Dad had a friend that dropped a rod over the side of the boat while spec fishing. The next weekend in the same spot this guy catches a rod and reel that wasn't even his. A few minutes later he snags his from the previous weekend.

Wasn't in a fishes mouth but still a cool story

There is a shark in Venice with my Whopper Plopper in his mouth. If you catch it, let me know.

Was in grand isle and a speck break my line with a yoshi on the end of it. Found the yoshi floating in the marina the next morning

I was scouting for duck season about two years ago, in a kayak. I had brought my fishing gear as an afterthought, but no ice chest. I started tearing into some schooling bass pretty good, and putting them on a stringer. I limited out pretty quick, and then started culling out the smaller ones. After swapping one out, I forgot to tie my stringer back onto the kayak, and just dropped the line overboard. After losing my shite for a minute, I got out a deep diving crankbait and started throwing. On my fourth cast I looped the bill under the stringer and pulled the stringer and all 10 bass back in. Didn't cull any fish after that.

I popped off on a bass with a senko before and my partner caught it on the next cast with my hook and worm still in its mouth.

two of my buddies caught a bass at the same time in a tourny, fish hit a soft plastic and then immediately ate the other's spinnerbait

I was snorkeling in Key Largo years ago and swam up on a big arse barracuda with a stainless steel circle hook hanging out of his mouth. It scared the shite out of me! He was sitting there with his mouth half open showing all his teeth. I've never back peddled so fast in my life.
