lots of good public hunting and fishing areas in close proximity...
very good zoo for a town it's size...
two 4-year colleges in the area...
pretty easy to make friends, if you aren't a tool...
good place to raise a family...
two land-based casinos nearby that have some damn good entertainment periodically...
damn easy commute no matter where you live vs work...

I was trapped on Fort Polk for a week shooting on their range. Best thing about Alexandria...you can go to all their bars in 1 night.

Is Suburban Gardens still open? Think that was the name of it.
I don't think it's around anymore. I went there a few times in the early 90s. it was a decent place.

It's got some nice freshwater lakes around it.
I grew up in Pineville.
Great place to grow up rural-like, but not sure kids are rural-like any longer.

Wife and I live in pineville. Moved here for her job and now we both have good jobs and cost of living is pretty damn good. We have a two year old so it's not like we need bars to go to.
Edit, we have Quebedeaux's here, which I have heard several people say they have better boudin balls and cracklins than Billy's!!! So......eat a di@k billy
