I get that up here every now and then. I just grab it and put it up.

Looks like quackgrass. If it's not too widespread pull it up from the root when the soil is damp. If not you'll have to use a post emergent. I'm just a weekend gardener so TIFWIW.

I poured out some gasoline in my grass about 6 months ago, and the spot is just barely starting to come back

Crab grass. Like others said, I pull it a day or two after a rain.

Looks like crab grass. Pull it all the way at the root or round up it and have a brown spot in your yard for a while. Prolly best to just pull it at the root.

It is definitely not crabgrass

Yep. Dallas grass. You can dig it up. Or round up in heart of root. A healthy lawn will choke most of it out

Pull it up. It has a massive root system that doesn't die using Round up. I use a hoe and itvyankscrightvoutvif the ground, leaving a hole that you need to fill in.

Baking soda will nuke Dallas and Crab grass, but you will have dead spots. The good news is that it shouldn't come back.

As others have said, Dallisgrass.
In a Bermuda lawn, MSMA (works even better if you add Certainty in the solution).
In St Aug/Centipede, Celsius WG.
Or spot spray with Roundup/dig it up.

The seed heads provide the best way to identify Crabgrass and Dallisgrass.
Dallisgrass seed head on left and Crabgrass seed head on right.
All of that aside I'll defer to bootlegger everytime.

I don't think it's dallis grass. OP, pull up a couple pieces roots included and post a pic.

The identification between dallisgrass and crabgrass is kind of irrelevant for the OP. Your best bet is to dig it up and throw it in the trash can. Fill the holes with a decent soil and watch for any sprigs to return.

True, either way just spot kill it. Put on a latex glove, then a dollar store cheap cotton glove on top of that. Dip that hand into a RoundUp solution and wipe directly onto foliage. Will keep you from over spraying onto lawn grass

hey boot, does roundup transfer through the roots for dallis/crabgrass?
Reason i ask, last year i spray several spots with just a very small amount of roundup and there was no wind. a week later, the dead spot is 3 ft in diameter.
