That shooting stars are not stars that "shoot" from place to place around the sky. (Fellow student in astronomy class)

That a fan does not keep the house cooler, it just makes it feel cooler. (Wife)

That, yes, chicken is an animal and should not be eaten if you are a vegetarian.

There is such a thing as width, but there is no such thing as heithe. It's height!

I don't care what your friend posted on facebook, a computer virus will not make your computer explode.

Thermostats are adjustable endpoints not accelerators

When pertaining to a fever one hundred two is 102.0 and one hundred and two is 100.2

Weight loss is in fact possible and comes down to nothing more than calories consumed vs calories burned.

Antibiotics will not cure your viral cold.

pregnancy is preventable

I didn't read past the first page so maybe already said, but the profound lack of understanding of percentages among many adults is devastating.

Two separate people, one 20 and the other almost 40, thought going from 3 to 5 was a 2% increase instead of a 66.7% increase. I asked them both a number of questions to test their knowledge, and they failed just about every one of them. I have found this to be a common occurrence among adults.

I had to break out a map to explain to this woman that Washington DC was not the closes state capitol to the equator. Then tell her even if it was the closes to the equator, it wouldn't be the closes state capital since its the US capitol. For the record, Austin is the closes US state capitol to the equator.

I had to explain to a woman the meaning of the word "alternate". She said she had never heard the word spoken. I should've done the world a favor and beaten her to death with a kaiser blade. Live and learn I guess....

Speaking of fans, it's a common belief among Koreans, that leaving a fan on overnight can kill you*. I've dealt with that several times.

* Google "Korean fan death".

Woman in her 40's couldn't understand why our chickens' eggs didn't eventually hatch chicks even after we explained to her we didn't have a rooster.
