Since there are a few others on here who enjoy "herping" (insert herpes joke here), I thought it would be cool to have a dedicated thread for photos of the things we find.

So, post your photos of reptiles and amphibians. Feel free to throw in photos of invertebrates or anything else that might be related to herping.

If you're an "only good snake is a dead snake" person, this probably isn't the thread for you. Let's try to keep it civil.

I'll start by posting what I've been able to photograph so far this year. Nothing rare, but fun to find anyway.

Eastern Fence Lizard

Some sort of Wolf Spider

Three Eastern Garters

Snake food (deer mice)

Juvenile Midland Water Snake

Two Black King Snakes

And two Gray Rat Snakes I found on a family walk yesterday. I didn't have my real camera with me.

Interesting that King snake is so docile. I've read that they tame very easily, but bite like hell when they're first captured

Excuse the horrible picture quality - my scanner isn't working so I had to take pictures of my photos to transfer them to photobucket.

Cottonmouth that I caught a long time ago in New Orleans East - only a couple feet long, but a fatty.

A couple Cottons getting cozy...

Cottonmouth menage a trois...

Juvenile Timber Rattler my brother caught in New Orleans East...

Copperhead that I caught in Picayune...

Juvie Cottonmouth - not to be confused with a Copperhead...

Speckled King...

Amelanistic Speckled King, wild-caught, which is very rare (not caught by me)...

My former pet Pygmy Rattler...

Dueling Anoles - probably my favorite photo I've ever taken (Jean Lafitte National Park)...

Broadhead Skink...

Mud Snake that my father caught...

Another Mud Snake, and the largest snake I've seen in the wild. I've caught Rat snakes that were 6.5 ft, and this guy made them look small. This was under the visitor center at Jean Lafitte National Park, and a crowd of people had just watched it eat a huge amphiuma right before I got there...

Ribbon Snake...

Black-Masked Racer at Jean Lafitte National Park...

Second-largest Racer I've ever caught, around Golden Meadow back in the early '90s...

Huge Diamond-Back Water Snake I caught back in the late '70s - note the short shorts and sexy legs...

Head Chameleon spotted in Atlanta...

Pygmy rattlesnake in the Florida Panhandle a few weeks ago. The Cicada Killers were also emerging from the ground which was interesting because I hadn't heard Cicadas yet. But I did the next day.

Corn snake under a piece of tin out beyond the backyard in the "buffer zone".

Scarlet snake found in the pool skimmer.

Found this little one year old Diamondback while out for a springtime walk in the woods near the house. Yeah, took a couple of pics and released.

Beautiful Indigo Teague!

Low and behold found this beauty in the yard this morning. It's been 2 years or so since one has wandered on the property. Got the adrenaline flowing. Very difficult to see in the shade and she was trying to stay hidden.
